Italian giants AS Roma are plotting a summer raid on the Premier League for Liverpool ace Yossi Benayoun and Arsenal defender William Gallas, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The report also claims Gallas' Arsenal team-mate Emmanuel Eboue and Portsmouth left-back Nadir Belhadj are on the Italians' transfer radar.
Giallorossi boss Claudio Ranieri is planning an overhaul of his squad for next season, despite an impressive current campaign in Serie A in which his side still retain hope of pipping Inter Milan to the league title. And the former Chelsea boss is reportedly set to return to England in order to secure his prized targets.
Israeli midfielder Benayoun faces an uncertain future at Liverpool, having admitted openly last week that he "does not know if he will be here next season".
The 30-year-old was believed to be close to a £7 million move to Russian outfit Dynamo Moscow back in January, and Liverpool's apparent need to fund a transfer spree of their own this summer may see them tempted to part with Benayoun.
Gallas, meanwhile, is out of contract at the end of the season and Arsenal have taken their time to conduct negotiations over a new deal. French side Paris Saint-Germain were said to be leading the chase for the 32-year-old, but Ranieri is apparently eager to capture the defender, whom he signed for Chelsea back in 2001.
Fellow Gunner Eboue is also on the Romans' shopping-list, though Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the 26-year-old Ivorian and might be reluctant to do a deal.
But Algerian full-back Belhadj will almost certainly be leaving cash-strapped Portsmouth - who today announced debts of £138m - this summer, and could be available for as little as £5m.
