Southampton manager Jan Poortvliet has completed the loan signing of Millwall winger Ryan Smith.
Islington-born Smith, who will be 22 in November, began his professional career with local side Arsenal, and had a loan spell at Leicester City before joining Derby County in 2006.
He later went on loan to Millwall, joining the Lions on as permanent basis and appearing in 16 League One games for the South-East London side last season.
However, he has hardly figured for Millwall in the current campaign and recently had an unsuccessful trial with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
But following his move to the South Coast with Southampton, he is set to go straight into the Saints first-team squad for their Championship clash at Coventry City tomorrow.
