Niger aims to upset Nigeria at WAFU Cup

The Eagles will be looking forward to avenge their Chan defeat as the Mena hope to cement their superiority over the west African giants
Niger is sure that it has enough ability to upset 2011 WAFU Nations Cup hosts Nigeria on Saturday.

Nigerien central defender Harouna Ide has told MTNFootball.com that its confidence level has heightened with victories over giants Egypt and Nigeria in other competitions.

“We are here to win again,” Ide said. “Nigeria are a big team but we have also showed that we can compete with the best teams in Africa like Egypt and Nigeria.”

“The squad for this competition is mainly made up of players from our under-20 team, who recently toured Saudi Arabia and Algeria. We are handled by the national team assistant coach as the main coach is undergoing a course,” the Kano Pillars guardsman stated.

Nigeria set off its campaign with a 1-0 win over Liberia on Thursday.
