São Paulo is the Florida Cup playoffs champion.
Rogério Ceni's side beat rival Corinthians in a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw Saturday, securing its first title of the season.
The match was something of a disappointment for those expecting a technical showing by both teams. It was a hard-fought match, with some harsh fouls and the teams struggling to create scoring chances.
The biggest scuffle of the night happened in the 20th minute after a collision between Marquinhos Gabriel and Bruno in the center of the field. The brawl resulted in red cards for the São Paulo defender Maicon and newly signed Corinthians striker Kazim.

The teams returned to the field with some player changes, but the match remained a snooze. Corinthians enjoyed the better of the remaining second half, with some scoring chances spurned by Marlone, Romero and Giovanni Augusto.
The scoreless draw set the match for a penalty shootout to determine who would be the Florida Cup champion. Just like in the semifinal against River Plate, Sidão was decisive for São Paulo — the goalkeeper saved penalties from Fellipe Bastos and Marciel and secured the title.
