Chelsea defender Matt Miazga has moved to Vitesse Arnhem on a season-long loan, the Premier League club announced Wednesday
The 21-year-old American defender joined the Blues on a four-year deal in January from the New York Red Bulls and made two appearances last season.
Miazga played with Chelsea's first team only once during the preseason and didn't appear to have a role under new coach Antonio Conte this season.
His move to the Dutch top flight comes shortly after Chelsea brought back center back David Luiz in a shocking deadline deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
Miazga was also linked to Eintracht Frankfurt and Espanyol prior to the close of the transfer window. It was reported that some Premier League clubs were also interested.
Miazga has made two appearances for the U.S. national team.
