Official: Paris Saint-Germain signs defender Maxwell from Barcelona

The former Ajax and Inter fullback failed to nail down a regular place in the Catalans' lineup and has decided to up sticks and move to the French capital.
Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed the signing of defender Maxwell from Barcelona, with the Brazilian joining the French club in a three-and-a-half year deal.

It was announced on Wednesday evening that the Ligue 1 leaders had agreed a deal with the Catalans for the Brazilian fullback, who only had six months left to run on his existing contract with the La Liga outfit.

Maxwell traveled to Paris on Thursday to finalize his contract with PSG and undergo a medical.

With all of the outstanding formalities now being resolved, the player has completed his switch to the capital club.

The 30-year-old left back joined Barcelona from Inter in 2009 but never managed to nail down a regular place in coach Pep Guardiola's starting lineup.
