Besiktas have confirmed through their official website the signing of Atletico Madrid winger Simao on a two-and-a-half year contract.
The big-spending Turkish side will pay €900,000 to bring the former Portuguese international to the club in the winter market, rather than wait until his deal with the Vicente Calderon side expires at the end of the season.
He has put pen to paper until the summer of 2013 thought to be worth €2.2 million for the remainder of the current season, and then €2.5 million for the following two seasons.
Besiktas have been linked with the 31-year-old for the past few weeks, and after he scored the winning goal in Wednesday night’s Copa del Rey win over Espanyol, the player declared that it would be his last appearance for Atleti in an emotional farewell to the club he joined from Benfica in 2007.
The Super Lig outfit will now focus their attention on finalizing a deal for Werder Bremen attacker Hugo Almeida, who is free to discuss terms with other parties due to his contract with the Bundesliga outfit expiring in June.
