World Cup 'Star' Paul The Octopus Has Died

Sealife Oberhausen has confirmed that Paul the Octopus died on Monday night.
German zoo Sealife Oberhausen has confirmed that Paul the Octopus has died. The famous football oracle passed away in his aquarium on Monday night.

Paul the Octopus became one of the most famous animals around during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The oracle was given the choice between two boxes with shells in it that each represented one team to predict the outcome of a game.

The sea creature correctly predicted the outcome of all Germany's matches at this summer's tournament. Additionally, he was right to predict a Spanish victory over The Netherlands in the final of the 2010 World Cup.

After the tournament, zoos from all over the world tried to lure Paul the Octopus to their respective zoos, but Sealife Oberhausen decided to hold on to the beloved sea creature.
