Been Frustrated By Lack Of Professionalism

NEC manager Mario Been has accused several of his players of having a bad mentality...
The Nijmegen side are facing Dinamo Bucharest on Thhursday evening, but boss Been isn’t happy with the lack of professionalism some of his players have shown in the build-up to the important UEFA Cup match.

“Rutger Worm almost missed the plane to Bucharest because he overslept - how can you oversleep for the most important match in your career?” wondered the frustrated NEC gaffer.

The travel gaffe comes weeks after Worm was sent off in the first Eredivisie match of the season for over-celebrating.

“I hope that he learns from his mistakes,” continued Been. “Rutger really needs to work on his attitude.”

Attacker Joel Tshibamba was also sent off for over-celebrating last week and his teammates rounded on the youngster over his madness.

“I was so annoyed that I allowed the team to victimise him,” been lamented. “There is a lot of character in the group and the real winners will stand up in situations like this.”

Been had already criticised new signing Rachid Bouaouzanfor his bad attitude on the training pitch and has now taken aim at former Fulham striker Collins John, too.

He blasted: “Collins John hasn’t been fully match fit since his arrival. It doesn’t make sense to me that he was looking for a new club while his body is in a horrible condition.

“It’s unbelievable that players don’t proper care of themselves nowadays,” Been concluded.
