Hey Goal.com readers,
It's kind of hard to talk about what happened this week. Not being able to play in the Olympics with the 23's is difficult and a hard pill to swallow... it sucks honestly. Everyone feels like they let their country down. So, yeah, this is going to be a brief post.
I've never gone through anything like this in my life before. I feel like I let my friends down, my coaches down and my country down. Even outside of soccer, I've never dealt with something on this level before. This is going to linger around for a while.
I don't know where it wrong to be honest. We had a great coach and a great team.
I think the Canada game cost us the trip to London. We shouldn't have had to wait until the El Salvador game to determine whether or not we'd move past the group stages. We should have played much better against Canada. It's really hard for me to describe the disappointment that I feel right now.
After the loss I can't begin to put into words how devastated we all were. Sitting there after the 3-3 draw to El Salvador wasn't fun at all. I'll leave it at that.
Not qualifying for the Olympics is going to be hard for me to shake off. This is going to be in my head for a while. But the reality is, I have to move on. On a positive note, I am looking forward to the game against DC.
Till next week,
