AC Milan's Robinho: Neymar is not the new Pele

The former Real Madrid and Manchester City ace has made it clear there will not be a new 'King' of Brazilian football
AC Milan forward Robinho has rejected suggestions that Santos star Neymar is the new Pele.

"Pele is the King of Football. Every young, black player who appears at Santos is called Pele, but people need to know how to differentiate that, because Pele was a myth. There has not been anyone similar to Pele nor will there be one. Another Pele will not be born," Robinho is quoted by Globoesporte as saying.

Neymar is widely regarded as one of the game's most talented youngsters and he is being closely monitored by Real Madrid and Chelsea.

On Wednesday, the 19-year-old helped Santos win the Copa Libertadores, like Pele did in the 1960s, which helped strengthen suggestions that he can become as good as 'The King'.

However, Robinho, who was once dubbed 'the new Pele' himself, back when he was at Santos, has moved to shake off pressure from Neymar's shoulders.

"Each player needs to make their own history. Neymar is already making his very well. In his short time as a professional, he has already won important trophies for Santos," Robinho said. "And we, on the field, need to put comparisons aside and try only to play football."
