Schweinsteiger poised for Bayern Munich comeback against Hoffenheim

The Germany international has spent the past few weeks on the sidelines due to injury, but is set to provide a big boost to the Bavarians by returning this weekend.
Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has received some positive news from the treatment table ahead of Saturday's Bundesliga match at home against Hoffenheim as influential midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to make his comeback after an injury layoff.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been out of action ever since he suffered ankle ligament damage early in February, but has now resumed regular training again.

"He has trained with the rest of the team again without any problems for the first time. I hope that he will be ready to make the match squad for Saturday's game," Heynckes said at a press conference. "He is an important personality both on and off the pitch, and can give the team extra impulses."

Bayern has been struggling to find its best form in the absence of Schweinsteiger and is in second spot in the Bundesliga table, seven points off table topper Borussia Dortmund.
