A brace from Joe Ledley secured Celtic’s place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals after a 2-1 win over Inverness.
Celtic started brightly and Glen Loovens should have put them ahead inside two minutes after a Kris Commons cross, but the defender put his header over the bar.
The away side continued to press in the opening 15 minutes as first Emilio Izaguirre, and then Commons had efforts on the Inverness goal.
Shane Sutherland crossed for Ritchie Foran, but the striker shot wide as Inverness looked to impose themselves on the game.
Inverness then took the lead in the 44th minute from the penalty spot, as Adam Rooney powered his effort past Forster after Loovens fouled Foran.
The home fans’ joy was short lived however, as Joe Ledley leveled the game minutes later in added time at the end of the first half. The midfielder turned in from inside the six yard area after Izaguirre’s cross to tie things up going into the break.
Both side’s traded chances in the opening stages of the second period, but the pivotal moment of the match came with 22 minutes remaining when Ledley grabbed his second goal of the night.
The Welshman evaded the attention of the Inverness defense to head the ball into the net from Ki Sung-Yueng’s cross.
The SPL leaders continued to control much of the possession in the last 20 minutes and secured a last four tie with Aberdeen.
