Heineken brings Champions League trophy to USA

The beer brand is showcasing club football’s biggest prize as American fans are given the chance to experience the iconic cup.

Heineken has taken the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour to the USA as club football’s most coveted piece of silverware continues to travel around the world.

Since 2007 Champions League sponsor Heineken has taken the trophy to fans in Africa, Latin America and Asia. and in 2015, U.S. fans will get a rare chance to see to the ultimate prize.

The latest tour, starting on March 19, will give fans over legal drinking age the opportunity to snap a selfie with the celebrated trophy at locations in New York, Dallas and Los Angeles. They will also get the chance to experience an interactive Champions League exhibit featuring legendary kit worn in big matches, while they can meet some of the tournament's legendary stars. Fans can also follow #ChampionTheTrophy on Twitter to keep in touch with the Trophy Tour experience as it travels across the U.S.

“We know there are passionate football fans all around the world who don’t always have the chance to experience the excitement of the UEFA Champions League in person,” said Hans Erik Tuijt, Global Activation Director, Heineken.

Heineken provides football fans around the world with extraordinary experiences, and we’ll continue to entertain and amaze as we get closer to the UEFA Champions League Final in Berlin on June 6.”

On March 18 Jerzy Dudek, who won the Champions League in 2005 with Liverpool, will welcome the trophy to the U.S. and take part in a #ChampionTheMatch live Twitter chat during the last-16 second leg between Barcelona and Manchester City. The Trophy Tour will kick off for fans the following day.
