The American striker tallied another goal on Saturday, scoring the opener as AZ Alkmaar defeated RKC Waalwijk 2-1.

Fresh off his U.S. national team debut, Aron Johannsson was exceptional in extending his scoring streak to four straight in all competitions. He slotted home from close range in the fourth minute after a loose ball was fortunately put into his path. The Icelandic-American made no mistake however, chipping his shot over goalkeeper Jan Seda.

Kljestan scores again

Sacha Kljestan was stupendous on Sunday, scoring the winning goal in the 74th minute as Anderlecht bested Waasland-Beveren 3-0. The U.S. international has now scored in back-to-back games for the Belgian club.

Guzan on point in Villa victory

Brad Guzan had a fantastic day in goal on Saturday, making three saves while expertly patrolling his area. The Villains went down early but Christian Benteke tallied a double while Antonio Luna punched one in late to given the visitors a shocking 3-1 victory over Arsenal. The Gunners went down to 10 men in the 67th minute but Aston Villa already had a 2-1 lead at that point. The win is a huge confidence boost for a squad that struggled for a majority of last season.

Altidore tenacious but goalless in debut

Jozy Altidore made his Sunderland debut on Saturday and was very persistent. He took several shots and his best two chancess came in the 65th and then 75th minute. The Black Cats dominated the contest with 21 shots compared to just five for Fulham however, the Cottagers were able to grab the 1-0 win.

Boyd out with shoulder injury

Rapid Vienna announced that Terrence Boyd will miss the next three weeks due to a dislocated shoulder. The striker sustained the injury while working with the U.S. national team last week. This blow comes at an inopportune time for Boyd, who will likely now miss the USA's Hexagonal matches against Costa Rica and Mexico.

Howard quiet as Everton falters

Tim Howard started in goal but didn’t make a save as Everton squandered a 2-1 lead, eventually drawing with Norwich 2-2. Both Steven Whittaker and Ricky van Wolfswinkel beat the U.S. international in a match which was dominated in possession by the Toffees.

Cameron plays full 90 in opener

Geoff Cameron was the only American to dress and feature for Stoke on Saturday. The defender played a solid contest but ultimately Liverpool prevailed 1-0. The visitors had a chance to equalize late but Jonathan Walters’ 89th minute penalty was saved.

Jones poor for Schalke

Jermaine Jones played the full 90 on Saturday but was not very effective, picking up a yellow card as Vfl Wolfsburg dominated Schalke 4-0.

Johnson solid as TSG dominates

A week after coming off the bench, Fabian Johnson started on Saturday and played well, picking up an assist as TSG Hoffenheim defeated Hamburg 5-1. Johnson got the blowout started early as he set up Roberto Firmino’s opening header in the fifth minute.

Brooks commits crucial error in draw

John Anthony Brooks came on for the final seven minutes on Sunday but with Hertha Berlin up 2-1, Brooks got careless and committed a foul which led to Hiroshi Kiyotake’s free kick equalizer for Nurnberg. The American defender, who was exceptional in league play last week, will look to recover next week.

Chandler subs on with aggression

Nurnberg defender Timothy Chandler came on in the 58th minute on Sunday and picked up a yellow card just 13 minutes later as his club drew 2-2 with Hertha Berlin.

Friedel plays the backup role

Brad Friedel was dressed on Sunday but did not get on the field as Hugo Lloris got the expected start in goal for Spurs. Tottenham grabbed a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace thanks to Roberto Soldado’s 50th-minute penalty strike.
