Americans On The Continent: Eddie Johnson Scores for Aris

Eddie Johnson played the full 90 for Aris, grabbing an 11th minute goal.  Darcy Dolce Neto slipped Javito through down the right sideline and he quickly crossed for Johnson.  Latching onto the bouncing cross, Johnson struck a raking shot across his body to the near post, squeezing it past the Panionios goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

Johnson nearly doubled Aris’ lead early in the second half after combining well with Javito to send the Spaniard down the right side yet again.  However, Johnson was unable to put his headed effort on goal, sailing it over the bar.

Aris allowed Panionios to equalize in the 81st minute as Croatian midfielder Davor Kukec’s 20-yard drive squirreled into the net for the final goal of the match.  Freddy Adu was on the bench for Aris but did not see any action for the third straight game.
