Danny Szetela Returns To La Liga's Racing Santander

Danny Szetela is on his way back to Spain with Racing Santander after his loan deal with Italy's Brescia expired.
American international midfielder Danny Szetela is on his way back to Racing Santander. Szetela spent the last year and a half with Serie B side Brescia Calcio.

Brescia extended an initial one year loan deal for an extra six months, but has decided to let Szetela return to Spain rather than sign him permanently.

"The club Brescia Calcio officially announces the return of Danny Szetela to Racing Santander because of the loan's completion," an announcement on Brescia's website confirmed.

The 22-year-old first gained notice thanks to three goals in the 2007 U20 World Cup from a central midfield position. That helped him earn a move from Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew to La Liga side Santander.

With Racing, Szetela only made appearances in the Copa del Rey, Spain's domestic cup competition, but couldn't force his way into the team for league play. After six months with the club, he was loaned out to Brescia.

It remains to be seen if Racing is counting on the combatative youngster or if it plans to loan him out again.
