Mallorca coach: Giovani is our Ronaldo

Gregorio Monzano's side will rely heavily on the talents of the Mexican attacker against Real Madrid
Mallorca coach Gregorio Manzano is in no doubt that Mexican Giovani Dos Santos is his team’s key figure ahead of the trip to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid on Saturday.

“He’s our man,” Manzano told Spanish sports daily AS. “If in Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo stands out for being their decisive player, Mallorca’s is Giovani.”

Manzano highlighted the former Barcelona player’s improvement in form in recent games after a quiet start to his career at the Iberostar Estadio after signing last summer.

“Giovani is in a good moment, he’s comfortable on the pitch and his individual and team performances have been good,” stated Manzano. “He has provided assists, has made plays and I think him playing well is one of the ways that we can surprise Madrid.”

Mallorca is coming into the game against Real off the back of two consecutive victories in La Liga, but remains in the relegation zone in 18th place, two points behind 17th-placed Real Zaragoza.

Poor early season form led to coach Joaquin Caparros getting sacked on Feb. 4, with Manzano handed the task of guiding the club to safety the next day.

Dos Santos is due to fly to Mexico City after the Madrid game to meet up with the Mexico squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and the United States.
