Sources: Minnesota United to name Adrian Heath first MLS coach

The former Orlando City boss is set to be announced as the head coach for Minnesota United's inaugural MLS season in 2017.

Minnesota United has chosen Adrian Heath to be the head coach for the team's first season in MLS, sources confirmed to Goal USA on Wednesday.

The 2017 expansion club waited for the New York Cosmos' season to end to interview Giovanni Savarese, who led the NASL side to its third league title in four years Sunday.

But Minnesota has chosen Heath, who guided Orlando City through its transition from the USL to MLS for the 2015 campaign. The Englishman led Orlando to a 16-18-16 mark over a season and a half in MLS before departing the club in July.

Heath will be joined in Minnesota by former D.C. United assistant coach Amos Magee, who was announced as the club's director of player personnel Wednesday.
