WATCH: Valdez's controversial winner for Sounders

The Sounders forward scored for the first time in 2016, but Sporting KC fans may contend that the goal that knocked their team out shouldn't have stood.

The Sounders are into the Western Conference semifinals, but the goal may be one that Sporting Kansas City fans remember for a long time - and not fondly.

Nelson Valdez headed in a Joevin Jones cross in the 88th minute for the match's only goal, but replays of the tally seem to show the Paraguayan offside the moment Jones puts in the cross.

The goal stood, and the Sounders move on to face FC Dallas in the next round of the playoffs, while Sporting KC's season concludes with the defeat.
