Houston Dynamo dismiss Barrett as interim head coach

The Houston Dynamo have decided to not retain Wade Barrett as head coach, according to team president Chris Canetti.

The former Dynamo left back took over after Owen Coyle and the team agreed to part ways May 25, following a 3-7-2 start that saw Houston take just 11 points from 12 games.

Barrett’s haul of 23 points from 22 games (4-7-11 record) represented a slight uptick in form, but not enough to save his job.

Canetti told Corey Roepken of the Houston Chronicle the key factor was experience, which the organization felt Barrett lacked as a first-time head coach.

The former interim boss will have the option to remain with the organization but has not decided whether he will.
