The Montreal Impact got a big win Saturday against Toronto FC, but may have lost Didier Drogba in the process.
The star forward came off in the 55th minute of the contest with what the team has confirmed is a hamstring injury.
“He said he felt his hamstring a little bit on the last play there before he came out,” Impact head coach Mauro Biello told reporters after the game. “He'll be evaluated, we'll see to what extent it is.”
The injury dampens an impressive win for the Impact, as it was able to overcome a first-half red card from Calum Mallace thanks to an Ignacio Piatti 73rd minute strike to seal three road points.
The good news for the Impact is the win moved them nine points clear of seventh-place Orlando City for the final playoff spot in the East.
Drogba has eight goals in 17 games this season for Montreal, after scoring 12 times in 14 contests last year for the Impact.
