Benny Feilhaber's team may have emerged victorious Saturday, but the Sporting Kansas City midfielder is still endorsing Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco for MLS MVP honors.
Feilhaber converted a penalty kick and hit the set piece that set up Krisztian Nemeth's winner in the 3-1 triumph, bringing his season haul to eight goals and 12 assists.
Giovinco, meanwhile, teed up a Michael Bradley goal after notching a midweek hat trick against Orlando City. With 16 goals and 11 assists, the Italian has been endorsed for the league's top individual prize by another leading contender for the award.
"Giovinco is the best player in this league and he is the MVP," Feilhaber told reporters. "For me, I'm playing well because of the guys around me. It's about our team for us, and without the guys around me I can't do the things I do. Giovinco, you can probably put him on any team and he is going to be a superstar.
"He is a great player, but our team won out today because we all took our responsibilities and we did that effectively. I am very proud of that."
