Kaka is Major League Soccer's highest-paid player

The former AC Milan star will make his MLS debut with one of the league's two new teams in 2015.

He hasn't kicked a ball in Major League Soccer yet, but Kaka is now the league's highest-paid player.

According to salary figures released by the MLS Players Union on Monday, the Brazilian is on a total salary of $7,167,500, making him not only the highest paid in the league, but the highest-paid player in MLS history.

Clint Dempsey is second on the list for 2014 salaries, with a total compensation of $6.7 million. The top five is rounded out by Michael Bradley ($6.5 million), Jermain Defoe ($6.2 million) and Landon Donovan ($4.6 million).

Kaka was signed by Orlando City in July as the club's first designated player. The 32-year-old is on loan at home club Sao Paulo before he is set to join up with the expansion side for its inaugural MLS season in 2015.
