Los Angeles Galaxy Clinch MLS Playoff Spot

For the first time in four years, Los Angeles is in the postseason of Major League Soccer.
Combined with the Galaxy's  1-0 victory on Friday night against the Chicago Fire and D.C. United's loss on Saturday afternoon, the LA Galaxy secured their first MLS Cup playoff berth since 2005.

The last time the Galaxy reached the playoffs, they won the championship, but the LA team has since contrived to lose out on the chance to vie for the title since then.

The Galaxy's biggest star, David Beckham has never been a part of the MLS playoffs, but should have the opportunity this year.

The Galaxy have captured two MLS Cup Championships, winning the League title in 2002 and 2005 with both titles coming against the New England Revolution in 1-0 extra time victories

The opponent for the Galaxy has yet to be determined, as the Columbus Crew are the only other MLS team to clinch a playoff spot at present.

The conference semifinals will take place on Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8, followed by the conference final matches being held on Thursday, November 11 through Sunday, November 15. MLS Cup 2009 will be held on Sunday, November 22, at Quest Field in Seattle, Wash.
