Commentary

Thanks for joining our coverage, until next time, goodbye!
There goes the full-time whistle! The USA took an early lead through Pulisic's cheeky chip but hit back almost immediately through Opazo's deflected strike. It was an entertaining clash that looked very evenly-matched in the early stages, but Chile's influence grew as the game went on. However, they were unable to find a way through their hard-working hosts, who lost star man Pulisic in the first half. It finishes 1-1!
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: USA 1-1 CHILE
90' + 3' CHANCE! Arias is very casual at the back and is closed down by Morris, but gets away with it as his clearance cannons back off the striker and out for a goal-kick!
A. Vidal
Yellow Card
Chile
90' + 2' Vidal attacks a cross at the back post and is deemed to have fouled Ream. He's furious with the decision and gets booked for dissent.
J. Martínez
C. Aránguiz
Chile
90' Aranguiz makes way in another late Chile change, with Martínez coming on.
90' SAVE! Vegas flicks a header goalwards from the edge of the box after a free-kick is swung in, but Horvath catches easily.
88' Chile pile on the pressure and win a corner off Ream, but the USA stand firm and defend it well.
D. Rubio
N. Castillo
Chile
86' Castillo comes off for Rubio as Chile start to ring the changes.
S. Vegas
Yellow Card
Chile
85' Substitute Vegas finds himself in the book for a poor challenge on Lewis, who has just set foot on the pitch.
J. Lewis
C. Roldan
United States
84' Lewis replaces Roldan for the final few minutes of the game.
83' Vidal tries to loft the ball to the back post on his weaker left foot and it's just a yard short of its intended target.
81' Yedlin handles the ball as he contests a header and lands a little awkwardly, but appears to be okay.
J. Morris
G. Zardes
United States
79' Zardes, who has looked bright when he has been given service, is replaced by Morris, a natural striker who has often been forced to play wide on the right.
78' The corner comes to nothing as Vidal is ruled to have fouled his man inside the box.
77' Poor communication at the back means Gonzalez thumps clear when Horvath could have collected under no pressure. Chile throw men forward to attack the corner.
D. Lovitz
Yellow Card
United States
75' Lovitz makes a clumsy challenge on Isla and picks up a yellow card for his troubles.
72' The USA are growing back into the game, but a few sloppy passes have seen them relinquish possession rather cheaply at times.
S. Vegas
G. Maripán
Chile
70' Maripan, too, makes way, with Vegas taking his place in the back line.
E. Pulgar
D. Valdés
Chile
70' Valdes - an attacking midfielder - makes way for the more defensive-minded Pulgar.
68' There's a brief delay as Maripan - having fouled Roldan - seems to have been injured making that challenge and will have to come off.
W. Trapp
P. Arriola
United States
66' Another defensive change is made as winger Arriola makes way for holding midfielder Trapp.
64' They surge forward again as they manage to beat the press and win a corner off Isla. It comes to nothing, however, as they give away a foul in the box.
62' The USA are being starved of possession again, having played their way back into the game somewhat. Chile's class is starting to show as the game wears on.
60' The USA get out of their half and a curled cross from the right just evades Zardes, before a delivery from the opposite side is thumped clear.
58' Chile work it wide to Isla through the hub of Vidal, and the right wing-back's fizzed, low ball is hacked desperately away!
D. Lovitz
C. Baird
United States
56' Baird comes off for Lovitz as Berhalter switches to a three-man central defensive system.
55' MISS! A ball from the right pings around on the edge of the box and Zardes reacts quickly to pick up the pieces inside the box, finding himself one-on-one with Arias! However, he stretches for his shot and just lifts it over the top of the bar!
54' BLOCK! The ball is slipped through the lines far too easily again and Castillo thumps the ball off the back of a defender on the edge of the box. Chile are knocking on the door.
52' Chile are squeezing up an inch at a time and are playing through the USA with increasing ease. Berhalter may need to change things sooner rather than later.
50' Chile have started the second half with a real intensity and purpose on the ball. The USA have everyone back in their half defending.
48' MISS! Isla switches the ball again after a powerful, surging run from Vidal, and Opazo lashes a swerving volley just over the top of the near post!
47' There's a comedy moment as Roldan and the referee collide off the ball and go sprawling across the turf. Neither is hurt from the incident and play continues.
46' BLOCK! Chile make a fast start as Isla switches the ball to Valdes, who sees a low effort blocked by a sea of blue shirts. We've picked up right where we left off, it seems.
46' We're back underway for the second half!
Chile have had plenty of joy pressing high and playing the ball around and represent a real challenge for the hosts. They've knocked on the door a few times, but the USA have had their opportunities too. It's been a very well-matched contest so far.
There goes the half-time whistle! Pulisic opened the scoring in fine style after Zardes' excellent hold-up play set him through on goal, but Chile hit back just five minutes later as Opazo lashed in via a deflection! It's been an entertaining first half, and it's level at 1-1 at the break.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: USA 1-1 CHILE
45' + 1' Lletget cleverly sets Arriola on his way down the left, and he cuts it back for Baird on the edge of the box, but he's crowded out and the ball is hacked well clear.
44' SAVE! What a ball from Bradley! He gets his head up and sees the run of Baird on the right towards the back post, before picking him out beautifully. However, the winger's contact is scruffy and Arias dives to make a comfortable catch.
43' Chile are starting to dominate the game and are working the ball around confidently now.
41' MISS! More careless play at the back sees the USA turn the ball over and Chile have men surging into the box. Valdes tries to bend one into the top corner but it's narrowly over the bar!
40' SAVE! Castillo finds a yard and thumps the ball at goal, but it's very straight and Horvath deals with it comfortably.
39' MISS! Vidal tries a spectacular bicycle kick on his weaker left foot and it soars over the bar! That would have been some goal!
37' The departure of Pulisic is a major blow for the USA, but Borussia Dortmund will also be concerned, with a crucial clash against Bayern Munich not far away.
S. Lletget
C. Pulisic
United States
36' Pulisic has gone down and he won't be able to continue. Lletget replaces him in midfield.
34' CHANCE! What a howler from Ream! The Fulham defender plays a soft, blind pass back to Horvath and Castillo beats the goalkeeper to the ball, but his touch it too heavy and it's behind for a goal-kick! That could have been a gift for Chile!
33' The corner is half-cleared to Ream, who can't quite work it back into the box and it's hacked away.
32' CHANCE! Gonzalez beats the press and it's worked to Pulisic, who finds Arriola on the left, and the winger's fizzed ball across the face of goal causes havoc, but it's not turned home and Opazo thumps it behind for a corner!
30' Arriola has the chance to sprint down the left, but his touch is a little heavy and the ball runs away from him. Waste of a good position, that.
29' It's been an excellent contest so far as we approach the half-hour mark. Both sides have held their own in an evenly-matched game.
E. Pavez
Yellow Card
Chile
27' Pavez goes lunging in and absolutely cleans Arriola out, earning him a deserved yellow card.
27' CHANCE! Chile's high press wins them the ball back again and it's played into Vidal inside the box. Ream goes diving in and just avoids giving the foul away, and manages to put the midfielder off taking his shot!
25' MISS! Isla's impeccable touch sees him set Vidal up, whose fizzed, low ball across the edge of the box finds Valdes, but the forward's first-time effort is blazed over the bar!
23' CHile look very accomplished in midfield. They always have a short passing option and Vidal is proving particularly influential.
21' Baird wins the ball well and pokes it forward for Arriola to run onto. He gets it back inside the box but gets crowded out as Chile pull men back. Good link-up between the USA's wide players.
19' The USA have a free-kick on the right as Roldan draws a foul, but it's wasted as they give away a foul of their own inside the box.
17' CHANCE! Bradley plays a beautiful ball through for the run of Baird on the right - who is onside this time - and his fizzed cross is just a fraction behind Pulisic, who can't gather it in to shoot inside the box. Arriola lofts it back in for Baird at the back post, but his follow-up cross is blocked away!
15' Both sides look confortable on the ball when they get hold of it and aren't in a hurry to relinquish possession.
13' Roldan tries to slip Baird in and it's a good ball, but Baird had just gone a fraction early. It would have been a nice move had it come off.
12' SAVE! Pulisic turns on the afterburners as he skips away down the left and in on goal. His final touch is a yard too heavy, however, and Arias comes out and dives bravely at the feet of the midfielder to snuff out the chance.
11' MISS! Yedlin tries to restore the hosts' advantage with a firm effort from the edge of the box, but it's just wide of the target.
Ó. Opazo
Goal
Chile
9' GOAL!! It's 1-1! Castillo holds the ball up in a crowded box and lays off Aranguiz, whose shot is blocked away. It falls kindly for Opazo on the left, who lashes into the far corner via a deflection to level the scores!
8' CHANCE! Isla's low ball from the right just evades the run of a team-mate on the penalty spot and Miazga hacks clear! The USA get away with that one!
7' MISS! Vidal receives the ball on the right just outside the area and tries to lash one at goal, but he slices it wide of the target. A sighter for the Barcelona midfielder, perhaps.
6' Chile have grown in stature since conceding and are dominating the ball for a spell, forcing the USA backwards.
G. Zardes
Assist
United States
4' Zardes' back-to-goal play was textbook there. Superb touch and an excellent early ball on the swivel to set Pulisic away.
C. Pulisic
Goal
United States
4' GOAL!!! PULISIC SCORES! Zardes takes a logn ball down superbly and plays the ball in behind for Pulisic, who dinks the ball over Arias and into the back of the net! The USA lead 1-0!
3' It appears that Chile have gone to a back five in the opening stages of this game, perhaps looking to ease their way into proceedings.
1' We're underway!
The USA have won just three of their nine previous meetings with Chile (D2 L4), and all three victories were by a 2-1 scoreline. Their last such result came in January 2000, having lost 3-2 in their most recent meeting in 2015.
Chile boss Reinaldo Rueda, however, largely keeps faith with the side that lost 3-1 to Mexico in their last game, making just four changes. Mena, Pulgar, Hernandez and Morales drop out, and are replaced by Jara, Opazo, Pavez and Valdes, respectively.
Gregg Berhalter keeps just four players from the hosts' previous 1-0 win over Ecuador. Ream, Pulisic, Arriola and Zardes continue in the side as seven changes are made. Weston McKennie's injury in that game sees him miss out altogether.
Chile substitutes: Jimmy Martinez, Paulo Diaz, Lawrence Vigouroux, Sebastian Vegas, Diego Rubio, Erick Pulgar, Felipe Mora, Ivan Morales, Jean Meneses, Pablo Hernandez, Eugenio Mena, Igor Lichnovsky, Brayan Cortes
Chile XI (4-3-1-2): Gabriel Arias; Mauricio Isla, Gary Medel, Guillermo Maripan, Gonzalo Jara; Arturo Vidal, Oscar Opazo, Esteban Pavez; Charles Aranguiz; Nicolas Castillo, Diego Valdes
USA substitutes: Daniel Lovitz, Jesse Gonzalez, Wil Trapp, Sebastian Lletget, Christian Ramirez, Jordan Morris, John Brooks, Nick Lima, Jonathan Lewis
USA XI (4-1-4-1): Ethan Horvath; DeAndre Yedlin, Matt Miazga, Omar Gonzalez, Tim Ream; Michael Bradley; Corey Baird, Cristian Roldan, Christian Pulisic, Paul Arriola; Gyasi Zardes
The line-ups are out and we'll start with the home side.
