That's all for today. Thank you for following our live coverage. Until next time, goodbye!
Bayern will look to continue their momentum when they host Hoffenheim next weekend. Meanwhile, Schalke resume their desperate search for points away at Werder Bremen.
Thomas Muller scored twice as Bayern Munich eased to a commanding 4-0 win over Schalke at the Veltins-Arena. Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba were also on target for Hansi Flick's side, who move seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. As for their opponents, they remain 10 points adrift at the bottom of the table.
K. Coman
90' Coman squared the ball for Alaba, who puts the icing on the cake.
D. Alaba
90' ALABA GETS IN ON THE ACT!!! 4-0! And it's a nightmare for Fahrmann! Alaba lets fly with a powerful effort from distance that squirms under the dive of the Schalke goalkeeper, who should have done better in that instance.
J. Kimmich
88' A third assist of the game for Kimmich. That takes his tally for the season to nine; the joint-best in the Bundesliga.
T. Müller
88' MULLER!!! 3-0 BAYERN! His second goal of the game! Muller is in the right place at the right time to head home Kimmich's inviting free-kick.
87' The visitors continue to press for more goals. This time, Coman unleashes a long-range effort that Fahrmann manages to push away to safety.
85' GOOD EFFORT! Bayern go in search of a third with Choupo-Moting racing away on the counter. He finds fellow substitute Musiala, who cuts inside before whipping in a vicious strike that is well-saved by Fahrmann.
J. Boateng
Yellow Card
84' Boateng is booked for a rash challenge on Raman.
83' Goretzka almost added a third to mark his 100th competitive appearance for Bayern in the best way possible. It would have been at the home of his former club, where he scored 14 league goals in 116 games between 2013 and 2018.
81' GOOD SAVE! Fahrmann does well to somehow keep out Goretzka from close range. The midfielder almost gets his head to the rebound, but Kabak manages to help the ball away from goal.
E. Choupo-Moting
R. Lewandowski
80' Lewandowski's game is over as he goes off to be replaced by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
M. Nastasić
Yellow Card
80' Nastasic receives the first yellow card of the game for an accidental stamp on the foot of Muller. That looked painful!
78' The hosts continue to threaten and Schopf has another go for goal from the edge of the area. This time, his effort deflects behind for a corner.
75' Good pressure from Schalke! First, Boateng is forced to make an important intervention with Raman waiting to turn home a cross at the far post. Moments later, Uth drills a low 20-yard strike that flashes just wide of the target.
73' NOT FAR OFF! Almost an immediate impact from Schopf, who gets his shot away through the legs of Sule. But like Lewandowski a few moments ago, his effort is wide.
N. Boujellab
M. Hoppe
72' Having struggled to make an impact, Hoppe also makes way with Nassim Boujellab replacing him.
A. Schöpf
A. Harit
72' A double-change for Schalke. The first sees Harit make way for Alessandro Schopf.
71' JUST WIDE! Receiving the ball near the edge of the box, Lewandowski neatly turns away from his marker and gets a shot away. However, he does not strike it cleanly and the ball trickles wide of the target.
69' Coman hopefully chases a long ball over the top of the Schalke defence. He challenges Fahrmann in the air, but the Schalke goalkeeper is able to head to safety. The Bayern substitute took a knock in that aerial battle, but is soon back on his feet.
L. Hernández
A. Davies
68' Another change for Bayern with Lucas Hernandez introduced in favour of Davies.
66' It is not only Lewandowski making history for Bayern at the moment. Neuer could do the same today. Should he keep Schalke at bay, it would be a record-breaking 197th clean sheet in the Bundesliga over 90 minutes - eclipsing that of the great Oliver Kahn.
K. Coman
L. Sané
64' Sane is also given a rest, with Kingsley Coman taking his place.
J. Musiala
S. Gnabry
64' A double-change for Bayern. The first sees Gnabry make way for Jamal Musiala.
62' GOOD SAVE! Another neat flowing move from Bayern sees Lewandowski find Gnabry in space on the left. The winger drills a low shot towards goal, but Fahrmann gets down well to hold.
61' You feel that goal has ended any hope of Schalke finding a route back into this game. The gulf in quality between the sides has become evident in this second half.
58' That was goal number 23 for the Bundesliga's top scorer this season. It is also his 14th in his last 11 league appearances against Schalke - in all of which he has found the net.
56' Another game, another record for Lewandowski! Bayern's talisman becomes the first player in Bundesliga history to score in eight consecutive away games.
J. Kimmich
54' Kimmich the creator once again with a lovely ball over the top of the Schalke defence for Lewandowski to run onto.
R. Lewandowski
54' LEWANDOWSKI!!! 2-0 BAYERN! The customary goal from the number nine! Lewandowski times his run perfectly to latch onto Kimmich's long ball over the top of the Schalke defence. Although the angle is tight, he does brilliantly to squeeze his shot underneath the dive of Fahrmann.
54' At the other end, Muller demonstrates terrific awareness to pick out Kimmich with a low ball into the box. However, the midfielder is unable to keep his first-time effort down.
52' Almost! The delivery is met by the head of Nastasic. Over 12 yards from goal, the former Manchester City defender must generate power on the ball, but his header is only just wide of the target. Although at full-stretch, Neuer did appear to have it covered.
51' A chance for the hosts early in the second half as they force a corner on the far side. Can they capitalise on this?
48' The Royal Blues have scored just two goals in their last nine meetings with Bayern - all of which have ended in defeat. That statistic underlines the size of the task facing them in this second half.
46' Schalke get the ball rolling again in the second half.
They may trail, but Schalke have generally held their own so far. The hosts have created opportunities - most notably, Mark Uth's header straight at Manuel Neuer - and they must continue to do so to have any chance of dragging themselves back into this contest.
Thomas Muller's strike separates the sides at the Veltins-Arena. The forward's 33rd-minute header opened the scoring for Bayern, who have had the better of the first half and will be looking to press home their advantage after the break.
45' + 1' We are going to have a single minute of stoppage time at the end of this first half.
44' GREAT TACKLE! Becker to the rescue for Schalke! Kimmich is well-found in the penalty area and just about to pull the trigger, but the full-back gets an important touch to take the ball out of the Bayern midfielder's path in the nick of time.
42' Bayern have the ball in the net as Gnabry tucks away the rebound after Sane's initial effort is parried. However, the offside flag had already been raised against the latter.
39' Danger for Schalke as Gnabry has the ball and quickly finds Sane in space. However, the former Manchester City winger takes too long and his eventual shot is blocked.
37' Muller has now been directly involved in 17 league goals for Bayern this season, with his tally of nine assists the most in the German top-flight.
35' That was Muller's eighth Bundesliga goal of the season. A winner of 27 major trophies during his career with Bayern, he is the only outfield player to start every league game for Flick's side this term.
J. Kimmich
33' Kimmich was the provider with a delicious centre that was begging to be attacked.
T. Müller
33' MULLER!!! 1-0 BAYERN! The visitors have the breakthrough! Kimmich is allowed far too much time to set himself and deliver a beautiful cross to the far post, where Muller peels away from his marker to head past Fahrmann.
32' Good defending by Schalke! They have to be alert after Fahrmann parries Kimmich's long-range effort, but manage to scramble the ball away before Muller can pounce for a rebound.
29' It is worth noting that Bayern have struggled on the road in recent times. In fact, the midweek victory over Augsburg was only their second in six attempts, while the 1-0 success gave them a first clean sheet in eight games - home and away.
27' The former Arsenal man certainly made a telling impact in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season; netting a hat-trick in a thumping 8-0 victory at the Allianz Arena.
25' Gnabry should be doing better. Unmarked in the box, the winger can only head wide of the target from close range.
23' TERRIFIC DOUBLE-SAVE! The free-kick is set for Lewandowski to whip a powerful strike that is beaten away by Fahrmann, who then reacts quickly to keep out Gnabry's follow-up attempt.
21' Kabak concedes a free-kick right on the edge of the box after felling Sane, who was threatening to race into the area. This is a great opportunity for Bayern...
19' Alaba letting Hoppe know he is there with a heavy nudge that leaves the Schalke striker needing a moment to gather himself. However, the young American is soon back on his feet and will be eager to make a positive impact against the league leaders.
17' Danger for Schalke as Sane controls the ball in the penalty box. However, the hosts can breathe a sigh of relief when their former winger is penalised for handball.
15' We are still goalless after the opening quarter of an hour. Schalke can be pleased with the start they have made to the contest, but will desperately hope they are not made to rue that missed Uth opportunity.
13' You have to go back to December 2010 for Schalke's last victory over Bayern in the Bundesliga. That came courtesy of a 2-0 win here at the Veltins-Arena.
11' FREE HEADER FOR UTH! The Schalke midfielder ghosts into the box to meet Oczipka's neat cross, but heads straight at Neuer from close range. Either side and Schalke would be 1-0 up.
10' There wasn't a great deal more that Serdar could have done for Schalke there, but the hosts know they must take their opportunities to have any chance of getting anything out of this game.
8' JUST WIDE! At the other end, an unmarked Serdar is well-found in the box. But needing to generate pace on the ball, he heads marginally wide of the target.
7' CHANCE FOR LEWANDOWSKI! The Bundesliga's top scorer times his run to meet Kimmich's delightful cross, but sends his header just over the crossbar.
5' Of course, Sane is returning to his former club today. After coming through the youth ranks, the Germany international scored 11 goals in 47 Bundesliga appearances for the Royal Blues between 2014 and 2016.
3' At the other end, the left foot of Sane unleashes Bayern's first attempt. Once again, though, the winger's effort is never troubling the goalkeeper and flashes wide.
2' Schalke have the first effort on goal as Becker tries his luck from distance. But his tame left-footed strike is easy enough for Neuer to gather.
1' The referee blows his whistle and Bayern get the match underway!
The teams are out and kick-off is imminent.
Bayern have enjoyed a dominant record in the recent history of this fixture. In fact, they have won each of their last nine against Schalke, conceding just two goals during that span.
As for Bayern, Hansi Flick makes three alterations from the narrow win over Augsburg. Two of them come in defence, with Niklas Sule and Alphonso Davies replacing Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez. Meanwhile, Leroy Sane is recalled against his former club to the left side of the attacking trio behind lone striker Robert Lewandowski, with Kingsley Coman dropping to the bench.
Christian Gross makes just a single change from Schalke's last-minute defeat by Koln in midweek. Bastian Oczipka replaces Arsenal loanee Sead Kolasinac at left-back, while Nassim Boujellab returns from injury on the bench. Their greatest threat is likely to come from in-form striker Matthew Hoppe, who has scored five goals in his last three games.
