Real Madrid v Fuenlabrada Live Commentary & Result, 11/28/17, Copa del Rey

It's heartbreak for Fuenlabrada but they'll leave the Santiago Bernabeu with their heads held high. The third-tier minnows performed better than everyone expected but may wonder what might have been, had that header from Cata Diaz found the back of the net rather than struck the bar. They'll know focus on their league campaign, as they aim to seal promotion.

A 4-2 aggregate victory for Real Madrid then but the media response to the result is unlikely to be pretty. Despite a strong side, Zinedine Zidane's side never quite looked in control and were fortunate not to find themselves level on aggregate as Cata Diaz struck the bar before Mayoral's first goal. The Copa Del Rey was never the priority for Zidane's side this season but given their struggles in La Liga, it may be their most realistic chance of silverware.

FULL-TIME! Real Madrid's name is in the hat for the Round of 16 draw next month but Fuenlabrada deserve a lot of credit for their performance. A blistering striker from Luis Milla gave them the lead but the introduction of Gareth Bale in the second-half changed the tide of the game. Borja Mayoral netted a brace, before Portilla secured the third-tier side a draw on the night with his effort late on.

88' CHANCE! That was the moment! Villalba burst down the right with plenty of room and cut inside to the box, firing a shot that could only hit the side netting of Keylor Navas' goal.

87' The romantic in me would love to see Fuenlabrada score again, a draw on the night is the least that they deserve from a fantastic performance.

85' The writing has been on the wall for a while in this one and the game is ticking to a quiet end as a result. It's gone 11pm in Spain, so it's no surprise to see many heading for the exits.

69' Real Madrid look the more likely to score again and you get the sense that if they do find a second, the floodgates will open. Zidane still has some changes he can make, although there's not another senior like Bale waiting to come on.

67' Fuenlabrada have two nearly moments on the break but on each occasion they can't quite get the ball under control. Mayoral's goal seems to have somewhat knocked the stuffing out of them.

65' A chance to catch out breath after a frantic few minutes. The goal is very harsh on Fuenlabrada, especially as they had just struck the woodwork. You have to now feel that the tie is decided, though Real Madrid haven't quite proved their doubters wrong.

57' SAVE! Annor gets barged to the ground by the corner flag on the right and it's a chance for Fuenlabrada to threaten. They do exactly that as Matheus Aias flicks a header at goal by the near post, forcing Keylor Navas to palm the ball behind.

55' It's a much more defensive approach from the visitors in the second-half, who are sticking men behind the ball. Given how frail Real Madrid's defensive line looked in the first period, it may change again. For now, it's about frustrating their hosts and trying to hit on the counter.

53' Fuenlabrada have had their backs against the wall since the start of the second-half and Real Madrid are now being relentless in their attacks. Los Blancos just keep coming at their visitors, though they still quite haven't clicked fully.

51' SAVE! Freixanet called into action once again from distance, as he dives to palm away Tejero's strike. Real Madrid already looking more threatening than they did in the entirety of the first period.

49' We wondered how long it would be, Gareth Bale is now warming up. It remains to be seen when Zidane will call upon the former Tottenham man but the game is crying out for his attacking edge.

48' Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres, who Fuenlabrada's stadium is named after, will certainly be pleased by the performance of his hometown club tonight, as will the entire red half of Madrid.

46' PENALTY SHOUT! Real Madrid immediately attack and Ceballos hits the deck. It's all a bit dramatic and unnecessary, so it's no surprise that the referee has no interest in his appeals.

45' KICK-OFF! Back underway in the Spanish capital. Real Madrid still lead on aggregate but they've left a lot to be desired in their performance so far. Big 45 minutes ahead! Fuenlabrada now kick to the right, having got us started for the second period.

Fuenlabrada, meanwhile, are in dreamland. The third-tier side still have a long way to go if they're to secure a historic victory but they've proven they can go toe-to-toe with Spain's finest. If they do exit the competition tonight, they can at least take confidence in their quest to secure a spot in the Segunda Division B play-offs at the end of the campaign.

Is it Bale time yet? Zinedine Zidane would have certainly preferred to give the Welshman a run out late on with a result already secured but his side have failed to stick to the game plan. Real Madrid have lacked the spark in the final third and that's certainly something that Bale could provide. Either way, they need to improve.

HALF-TIME! That certainly wasn't in the script. Real Madrid have been poor in the opening 45 minutes and trail on the night following Luis Milla's thunderous strike. Zinedine Zidane's side do still lead 2-1 on aggregate, so they remain with the advantage.

45' Real Madrid won't want the half-time whistle to blow. It's taken them a while, far too long in fact, but they're now starting to look dangerous.

43' Another chance for Real Madrid as Ceballos fires over the bar. They've started working through the gears now and Fuenlabrada will be eagerly waiting for the half-time whistle.

41' SAVE! Real Madrid finally make Freixanet work! Mayoral rides a few challenges and then curls for the far post but the visitors keeper is alert to the danger.

39' It's crucial for Fuenlabrada to hold onto their advantage on the night up until half-time. They've been by far the better side in the opening period but they certainly need to be wary of the inevitable response that will come from the defending European champions.

37' Zinedine Zidane certainly won't be happy with the display showed by his side. Borja Mayoral has been feeding on scraps in attack, whilst Theo Hernandez and Hakimi haven't been able to push forward from their full-back roles as much as they would like.

35' Real Madrid are starting to find their rhythm. The hosts win two corners in quick succession and go short from them both. Their final ball has been significantly lacking this evening though and Freixanet is yet to be tested.

33' Fuenlabrada coach Antonio Calderon spoke about potentially securing a positive result tonight ahead of the match and rated his side's chances. You would perhaps attributed that to pure optimism but his side can hold their head high following their performance so far, they've been fantastic.

31' I said earlier it would make for an interesting game if Fuenlabrada were to take the lead and that's certainly the case now. Real Madrid have woken up a bit since falling behind but there's certainly room for improvement, although they do still lead 2-1 on aggregate and can of course call upon Gareth Bale, should they require.

29' It certainly hasn't been a great week for Spanish officials after Lionel Messi's ghost goal at the weekend but it's perhaps harsh to put too much blame on the referee there, it's one of those that could have gone either way.

28' PENALTY SHOUT! Real Madrid have woken up and Nacho appeals for a penalty after striking the hand of Juanma. Replays show it did indeed strike an arm but the referee gives a corner.

27' Keylor Navas, who returns from injury tonight, will certainly feel he should have done better with that. You can't take anything away from Milla though, it was a blistering strike and he did remarkably well to even keep his effort on target.

25' WHAT A GOAL! It's been coming! Fuenlabrada kind of sound like a magic trick and that's certainly a magical hit from Luis Milla. The ball drops to the midfielder outside the box following a corner and it's a thunderous effort. Navas couldn't get enough on it, only managing to palm the ball onto the bar.

23' Real Madrid have at least managed to quieten down Fuenlabrada but the visitors still look dangerous. Yaw Annor has just beaten Theo Hernandez far too easily down the right hand side but his cross is overhit, bouncing behind for a throw in on the opposing flank.

21' Yet another wasted opportunity for Real Madrid, who are flagged offside following a short corner. One Spanish publication ran with the headline 'two penalties, a thousand yawns' after the first-leg and as it stands they won't be singing Zidane's side's praises in the morning press.

19' Real Madrid get a chance via a free-kick after Hakimi is fouled on the right but it's again a poor delivery. Their performance from the first-leg was widely criticised by the Spanish media and their showing tonight hasn't been much better.

17' Fuenlabrada's number nine, Aias, has already had a few mentions tonight and he continues to be a thorn in the side of the hosts. He's just threatened after pinching the ball of Llorente and his threat needs to be quelled by Los Blancos' defence.

15' Of the players for the hosts, young Oscar Rodriguez has looked the most lively and definitely stands as one to watch. He's scored two goals in three appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season, so he's rated very highly by the club.

13' We're still waiting for Real Madrid to create an opportunity or even look dangerous. Fuenlabrada are controlling the tempo at the start of this match and it would make the tie very interesting indeed if they were to score tonight's opening goal.

11' Real Madrid yet to turn up this evening. If you didn't know any better, you'd think it was the visitors in blue who were the top-flight outfit.

9' SAVE! Another chance for the visitors! Real Madrid's defence is looking far from solid right now and Keylor Navas has just been forced into action. Aias has proved to be difficult to handle this evening and it's he who tests Los Blancos' Costa Rican keeper, though it's a comfortable save.

7' Fuenlabrada have shown they're certainly not here to make up the numbers and the reality is they should be ahead on the night. Fraile was under pressure when he took his shot but he should have at least got his effort on target.

5' CHANCE! First opportunity of the game falls to the visitors! Matheus Aias collected the ball from a through in and cut a pass back to Fraile as he arrived into the box but he fires his effort wide of the target.

3' It's a wasted delivery though, with the set-piece far too deep and Oscar Rodriguez's return ball into the box being easily collected by Freixanet in the Fuenlabrada goal.

2' A fairly even start to the game in the opening few minutes, with both teams moving the ball around well, but Franchu wins Real Madrid an early corner.

1' KICK-OFF! We're underway at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Real Madrid get us started and kick from left to right.

Interestingly, the Real Madrid starting line-up this evening has an average age of 22 years and 156 days. That's the youngest of Zidane's tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu but fans have been coerced into attendance, with the club warning that season ticket holders who don't come this evening won't be able to watch the Clasico match against Barcelona on 23rd December.

Fuenlabrada also make a host of changes, with Cata Diaz, Milla, Fran Garcia and Fraile being the only players to retain their starting spot. English goalkeeper Conor O'Keefe, who's journey from Loughborough University to the Segunda B Division has been well documented, doesn't make the squad this evening.

Real Madrid make a total of four changes from the first-leg, with Casilla on the bench whilst Marco Asensio, Lucas Vazquez and Jesus Vallejo don't make the squad, with the latter suspended after his red card in the 2-0 win. Oscar, Franchu and Tejero are the three Castilla players to start tonight, with the likes of Seoane looking to get a chance off the bench.

Overall, they've lost just two of their 19 matches this season, one of those being last time out against Real Madrid, but they'll travel into Spain's capital with plenty of hope and optimism.

Real Madrid have the edge after their victory away from home but they certainly left a lot to be desired, with two penalties from Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio providing the win. Zinedine Zidane's side were sub-par and, remarkably, Real Madrid have won the Copa Del Rey just twice since 2000- their last victory coming in 2014.
