Commentary

That's all for the live text commentary for this match. Until next time, goodbye.
Rayo welcome Celta Vigo to Vallecas on Thursday evening before breaking for the Qatar World Cup. Madrid host Cadiz at the Santiago Bernabeu later that same night.
The referee calls time on an enthralling contest that ends with Madrid facing their first defeat of the season - at city rivals Rayo. Comesana opened the scoring for the hosts only for Modric to level things up from the spot. Militao then put Madrid into a lead, only for Alvaro Garcia to make it 2-2 right at the death of the first half. Oscar Trejo was the man who delivered the winning penalty shortly after the hour mark.

Madrid, on the other hand, are second in La Liga ahead of kick-off. They're two points behind their great rivals Barcelona with a game in hand, and so should they secure an away victory at Vallecas they'll leap-frog the Catalan outfit and assume leadership of La Liga.
Rayo come into this one placed ninth in La Liga having taken 18 points from their opening 12 games. Securing a top-half finish - they placed 12th last season - would be a huge achievement for a club that isn't blessed with a whole lot of resources. And they're on course to do exactly that.
Hello and welcome to the live text commentary for Rayo Vallecano's La Liga clash with Real Madrid.
