Netherlands face a crunch match against Turkey in their next World Cup qualfiying clash on Tuesday in Amsterdam. Montenegro are also at home against Latvia on the same day.
Netherlands send out a statement in their World Cup qualifying campaign by thrashing Montenegro 4-0 at Philips Stadion. Memphis Depay opened the scoring from the penalty spot before adding a second with a powerful finish. Georginio Wijnaldum put the result beyond doubt before Cody Gakpo notched his first international goal with a stunning effort. It could have been a different story had Stefan Mugosa taken a glorious opening to equalise, but Montenegro paid the price for their lack of cutting edge. Louis van Gaal is up and running with his first victory in his second spell in charge of the Oranje.

Mugosa is forced wide by the bounce of the ball, but he then scuffs his left-footed strike at Bijlow.

61' SAVE! Sarkic is keeping Montenegro in the game. Wijnaldum takes aim from the edge of the box with a curling effort that bends towards the bottom-left corner. However, the keeper gets across to beat away from danger.
60' Berghuis and Wijnaldum exchange passes in the final third as the latter looks for Gakpo. However, Simic is on hand for the visitors to make the vital interception.
57' Mugosa has handed Netherlands a huge let-off there. The visitors have responded in the second half, meaning there is work to do for the Oranje to kill off the contest.

Montenegro had an early opportunity through Milutin Osmajic, but were then placed on the back foot for the rest of the half. They had no answer for Netherlands' play in the final third and were hanging on before they went behind. The visitors will have to be more adventurous in their approach in the second period. They are capable of finding a leveller as their display against Turkey proved.
Netherlands lead Montenegro 1-0 at the break in their World Cup qualifying clash at Philips Stadion. Memphis Depay put the home side into a deserved lead from the penalty spot in the 38th minute after he was fouled by Dusan Lagator. Davy Klaassen went close earlier in the game, but struck the post and also place a strike wide of the target. Louis van Gaal can afford to be pleased with his side's first-half performance.

29' CHANCE! Berghuis lines up a strike from the edge of the box that is blocked by Tomasevic. However, the loose ball almost falls for Depay, but Sarkic is alert to smother the ball ahead of the forward before the visitors clear the rebound.
28' OVER! Berghuis does well down the right flank to create space for himself and he steers a low ball into the path of Klaassen on the edge of the box. The midfielder tries a first-time strike, only to lift his effort over the bar.
26' Referee Jesus Gil Manzano has to speak with Miodrag Radulovic on the sideline as the Montenegro manager vents his frustration about the decision not to award his side a penalty.

Lagator and Osmajic slot into the midfield, while Mugosa starts up front alongside Bozovic. Haksabanovic and Djurdjevic drop to the bench, but there is no place for Igor Vujacic or Neboja Kosovic.
Netherlands have made three changes to their side that drew against Norway last time out. Van Dijk drops to the bench and is replaced by De Ligt in the back four. Dumfries and Malacia also slot into the defence as Timber joins Van Dijk on the bench, while Daley Blind misses out. Malacia makes his debut at left-back. Van Gaal keeps faith with the same midfield and attacking trios that started in their last outing.

Montenegro staged a dramatic comeback in the second half to earn a share of the spoils in their qualifying clash against Turkey on the road. After going down 2-0, Adam Marusic got them back into the contest before Risto Radunovic notched a last-minute equaliser.
