8th Finals
UEFA Europa League

That brings an end to our coverage of the Champions League fixture between Liverpool and Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
Liverpool will hope to secure back-to-back victories when they travel to face Genk in their next Champions League fixture. Red Bull Salzburg, meanwhile, host Napoli next time out in Europe as they look to bounce back.
After an entertaining game of football, Liverpool take all three points. The Reds took the lead after nine minutes when Mane finished off a neat move with Firmino, before Robertson made it two on 25 minutes with a close-range finish. Salah added a third 11 minutes later after turning home the rebound from Firmino’s saved near-post header, but Salzburg pulled one back through Hee-Chan’s fierce strike seven minutes before half time. After the restart, the visitors drew level after scoring twice in quick succession through Minamino and Haaland, but Salah secured the points for Liverpool on 69 minutes with a well-placed left-footed strike from the centre of the box.
90' + 3' Liverpool are confidently knocking the ball around in their own half as they look to see out the remaining minutes.

88' Salzburg are enjoying a good spell of possession at present as they look to create one final opportunity. Ulmer’s searching ball down the left wing sails out for a throw-in to the hosts on the near side.
Yellow Card
86' Fabinho is the first player to receive a yellow card after cynically bringing down Ashimeru from behind. He can have no complaints with that decision.
85' Robertson skips away from Mwepu before looking for a quick one-two with Salah. The Egyptian’s return ball is overhit and Onguene is able to reclaim possession for the away side.
84' Liverpool have not lost at Anfield in European competition since October 2014. Can the Reds hold on in the closing minutes?
82' Milner looks to send Robertson away down the left, but the full-back is unable to reach the pass as it runs behind for a goal-kick.

M. Okugawa
D. Szoboszlai
71' Salzburg react to going behind by making their second change of the game with Okugawa replacing Szoboszlai.
Roberto Firmino
69' Firmino has began to control things once more for Liverpool in the last five minutes or so. The Brazilian showed great determination to react to the looping ball played by Fabinho, before sending a well-weighted header into Salah’s path. Another well-worked goal from the home side.
Mohamed Salah
69' GOAL! Liverpool lead again! Fabinho hooks the ball high into the air following a tackle, and Firmino is able to flick it on from the edge of the box. Salah is quickest to react and curls a left-footed effort into the bottom left corner from the penalty spot. 4-3.
68' Firmino and Robertson combine down the left flank, and Scotsman’s searching cross is turned behind for a corner by Onguene. The resulting set-piece is swung in towards the near post where Kristensen is well placed to head it clear.
66' If Salzburg were to go on to win the game, then Liverpool would become the second Champions League winners to lose their opening two games of the following campaign.
D. Origi
G. Wijnaldum

P. Daka
56' Salzburg make their first change of the match as Haaland comes on to replace Daka.
Hwang Hee-Chan
56' Hee-Chan turns provider for the second goal with an inch-perfect delivery into the path of Minamino. Daka’s movement occupied both Gomez and Van Dijk, leaving the Japanese winger in acres of space to apply the finish.
T. Minamino
56' GOAL! Minamino pulls another one back! Hee-Chan skips away down the left wing before hanging a cross up for Minamino. From the edge of the area, the Japanese international fires the delivery beyond Adrian and into the bottom left corner. 3-2.
55' INCHES WIDE! Mane skips away from several Salzburg defenders down the left-hand side of the field before picking out Wijnaldum on the edge of the area. The Dutchman gets it out of his feet before drilling his strike beyond the far post.
53' OPENING! Minamino skips away from Henderson before picking out a really good cross for Ulmer down the left side of the area. The full-back lays the ball off to the edge of the box for Hee-Chan, but the striker drags his left-footed shot wide of the far post.
52' The visitors have started the second half on the front foot and are looking to press Liverpool at every opportunity.
50' SO CLOSE! Gomez calmly slides a pass back for Adrian, who, under pressure from Daka, fires his clearance against the Salzburg striker and the ball bounces just wide of the near post.
48' Hee-Chan and Daka look to combine after a long ball down field, but Van Dijk reads the danger and reclaims possession for the hosts.
46' We are back underway! Ekberg blows his whistle and Liverpool get the second half kicked off.
Liverpool will be pleased with their first-half display and will look to continue in much the same fashion after the break. Mane and Salah have repeatedly caused the away side problems, and both will be crucial if Liverpool are to secure the points after the restart. Salzburg, meanwhile, have looked a threat on the counterattack but have been too open in defence. Marsch will look to Mwepu and Junuzovic to close the gaps in order to limit the space that the Reds are able to utilise in the second half.
Following an end-to-end opening half, Liverpool lead Salzburg 3-1 at half time. The hosts broke the deadlock after only nine minutes when Mane finished off a neat one-two with Firmino, before Robertson doubled the lead 16 minutes later with a close-range finish from Alexander-Arnold’s low cross from the right. Salah made it three on 36 minutes when he fired in the rebound after Stankovic made a smart stop to deny Firmino’s near-post header. The visitors grew into the game and eventually pulled one back after Hee-Chan skipped beyond Van Dijk before finding the bottom right corner seven minutes before the break.
44' The hosts once again sloppily lose possession, but Daka runs into Van Dijk on the edge of the area and the Reds regain control of the ball.
43' Hee-Chan has now been involved in four goals in his two Champions League games thus far.
41' Ulmer tries his luck from range following Minamino’s cross, but his shot fizzes wide to the right of Adrian’s goal.
E. Mwepu
39' Mwepu robbed Liverpool of possession down the left flank and slid a well-weighted pass into Hee-Chan who did the rest with a superb finish. Salzburg are good value for that goal.
Hwang Hee-Chan
39' GOAL! Salzburg pull one back! After sloppily losing possession, Mwepu plays the ball into Hee-Chan down the left side of the area. The striker beats Van Dijk after cutting back onto his right foot before unleashing a fierce right-footed effort into the bottom right corner. 3-1.
38' OVER! Minamino works the ball into the path of Daka who creates the space on the edge of the area to get a shot away, but fires over the top of Adrian’s goal.
Mohamed Salah
36' GOAL! Salah makes it three! Mane gets away down the left before floating a cross in towards the near post. Firmino flicks the delivery towards goal, forcing a good save from Stankovic, but Salah is free in the box to fire in the rebound from a few yards out. 3-0.
35' Henderson bends a wonderful pass beyond Onguene for Firmino, but the Brazilian’s selfless pass across the box for Salah is easily blocked by defender.
33' Mwepu plays Kristensen in down the right flank and the full-back easily skips away from Robertson before Henderson fires it behind for a corner. The delivery is taken short, and Mwepu’s in-swinging delivery is headed just wide by Daka, but the flag was up for offside.
31' Hee-Chan finds some space down the left side of the field before sliding the ball into the path of Minamino. The Japanese international fails to get away from Gomez who makes a strong block in the middle of the area.
29' GLORIOUS CHANCE! Fabinho floats a brilliant throughball over the top of the Salzburg defence for Salah to chase. The Egyptian gets the better of Wober, but fires his left-footed strike inches wide of the near post. That should have been three.
27' Alexander-Arnold now has four assists in his last six Champions League games.
T. Alexander-Arnold
25' Robertson started the move with a surging run down the left-hand side of the field, before getting into the position to turn home Alexander-Arnold’s incredibly inviting delivery. The Englishman has whipped a couple of dangerous balls in thus far, and on this occasion, it results in a goal. A very well-worked Liverpool move.
A. Robertson
25' GOAL! Robertson makes it two! Henderson picks the ball up in the centre of the park before laying it off to the right for Alexander-Arnold. The full-back lifts his head up before finding Robertson who had continued his run from deep, and the Scotsman pokes his finish beyond Stankovic from close range. 2-0.
23' Kristensen plays a long, searching ball down field for Daka, but Van Dijk climbs above the Salzburg striker before nodding it down for Robertson.
21' Mane switches the play over to the right for Alexander-Arnold who looks to pick out Firmino on the penalty spot. The Englishman’s delivery into the area is too close to Stankovic who easily claims it.
19' Minamino is fastest to react to Hee-Chan’s deflected shot, but in looking to let the ball run behind for a corner, allowed Robertson to steal back possession for the home side.
17' Mwepu concedes a free-kick on the halfway line after clipping Wijnaldum with a high boot.
15' The visitors are struggling to get out of their own half at present with Mane seeing plenty of the play down the left flank.
13' Mane has now scored 15 Champions League goals in 26 appearances.
11' Minamino catches Wijnaldum from behind and Liverpool are awarded a free-kick in their own defensive third.
Roberto Firmino
9' Firmino has found space on the edge of the box on a couple of occasions already in the game. This time the Brazilian peeled away from Onguene before sliding an inch-perfect pass behind the defence for Mane who applied the finish.
S. Mané
9' GOAL! Liverpool lead! Firmino and Mane combine with some neat link-up play down the left side of the Salzburg penalty area, before the Senegalese winger slots his right-footed effort into the bottom right corner. 1-0.
8' WHAT A CHANCE! Alexander-Arnold whips a low cross into the centre of the box from the right flank. Firmino and Mane break away from the Salzburg defence, but the Brazilian fails to cleanly connect with the delivery and Stankovic is able to claim it.
6' Firmino and Salah play a neat one-two on the edge of the Salzburg area and Onguene is well positioned to turn the ball behind for a corner, which the away side are able to head to safety.
5' Wober clips a deep free-kick into the right side of the area after a foul by Gomez. Daka rises well to meet the delivery, but is deemed to be offside by the referee’s assistant.
3' JUST WIDE! Daka regains possession for the visitors down the left-hand side of the field following a Liverpool throw-in. The forward lays it off to his right for Minamino, who fires just wide with a well-struck right-footed effort from distance.
2' An early opening for the hosts as Henderson and Firmino combine to launch a quick counter. The play gets spread over to the left for Mane, bus his throughball down the line is behind Robertson and Salzburg hook it to safety.
1' Kick off! The referee, Andreas Ekberg, blows his whistle and Salzburg get the game underway.
The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Anfield.
Liverpool will face Salzburg for the first time in their history. Overall, the Reds have won four of their six previous matches against Austrian sides in Europe.
The hosts have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign having lost only once in all competitions, which came against Napoli in their opening match in Group E. Jurgen Klopp’s side are however yet to keep a clean sheet at home this season, but will hope to nullify Salzburg’s attacking threat as they look to extend their run to 23 matches without defeat in Europe at Anfield. Salzburg, meanwhile, are yet to suffer a single defeat in any competition thus far. The away side will need to end a winless run of four matches against English sides if they are to enjoy back-to-back wins in the Champions League.
Liverpool are forced into making one change from their victory over Sheffield Wednesday in their last outing, as Gomez replaces the injured Joel Matip in defence. The visitors, meanwhile, make nine changes with Kristensen, Onguene, Ulmer, Minamino, Mwepu, Junuzovic, Szoboszlai, Daka and Hee-Chan all returning to the side after being rested against Austria Wien in their last domestic match. Haaland, the hat-trick hero from Salzburg’s opening group game, starts from the bench after suffering from an illness.
