Match Facts

  1. England won 2-0 in their last meeting with Germany last June at the European Championships. The Three Lions haven’t won consecutive games against them since a seven-game winning run between 1935 and 1966, the last game of which was the World Cup final.
  2. Germany have failed to score in their last two matches against England (0-0 in November 2017, 0-2 in June 2021), as many as in their previous 16 games combined. They’ve never gone three consecutive matches without a goal against the Three Lions.
  3. This is only England’s third ever non-friendly away match against Germany – the other two were a goalless draw in a European Championship qualifier in May 1972 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin and a 5-1 win in a World Cup qualifier in September 2001 at the Olympiastadion in Munich.
  4. Germany have lost eight home matches against England in all competitions, two more than they’ve lost against any other nation. Their most recent home defeat against the Three Lions was in a March 2016 friendly, losing 3-2 from a 2-0 lead.
  5. England lost against Hungary last time out, their first defeat against them since 1962. England haven’t lost consecutive games since a run of three against Croatia, Belgium and Spain between July-September 2018, the first two of which were at the World Cup. England haven’t lost consecutive matches outside of the World Cup or European Championships since November 2013 against Chile and Germany.
  6. Hans-Dieter Flick has won his first four home matches as manager of the German national team by an aggregate score of 19-1. The only German manager to win his first five home games in charge was Berti Vogts between 1990 and 1992 (won first six).
  7. Jude Bellingham, who is not 19 years old until June 29th, has made 13 appearances for England. The only player to earn more caps for the England men’s senior team before their 19th birthday is Wayne Rooney (19).
  8. Harry Kane has scored in both of his England appearances against Germany, scoring one goal each time in victories in March 2016 and June 2021. Only two England players have ever netted three times against the Germans, both as part of hat-tricks: Geoff Hurst (1966 World Cup final) and Michael Owen (2001 World Cup qualifier).
