Kiev turn their attention back to chasing Shakhtar on domestic duty. Meanwhile, Chelsea face a struggle of their own to reach the top four in the Premier League, and head to Everton this Sunday. That concludes our coverage, thanks for reading along!
Chelsea couldn’t have planned that one much better, inflicting a worst ever European home defeat on Dynamo Kiev to book their place in the Europa League quarter-finals. Two first-time finishes from Giroud and an Alonso tap-in ended the contest by half-time. Chelsea’s number 18 completed his second European hat-trick shortly before the hour mark and turned provider for Hudson-Odoi later on. Kiev showed flickers of life but not enough quality when rare chances came along. 8-0 on aggregate is how it finished.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: DYNAMO KIEV 0-5 CHELSEA
90' + 2' One last chance sees Giroud spoon the ball over the bar after Pedro's pass.
90' + 1' Two minutes have been added on here.
89' Chelsea are still searching for more goals to improve an already huge scoreline. On this form, they'll be tough to beat in the later stages of the competition.
O. Andrievsky
V. Shepelev
Dynamo Kyiv
87' Shepelev claps the cheering Kiev fans on his way the touchline before Andrievsky replaces him.
86' Tsygankov then tries a neat ball through for Harmash up front, flagged offside for the fourth time tonight.
85' Tsygankov is penalised for a foul on Kovacic.
83' Hudson-Odoi is almost in on goal again but just runs out of room before Boyko collects.
Y. Smyrnyi
Sidcley
Dynamo Kyiv
81' Smyrnyi comes on for Sidcley, who has threatened at times for the home side.
80' Shepelev fouls Jorginho in Chelsea's half as we enter the last ten minutes here.
O. Giroud
Assist
Chelsea
78' Giroud turned provider to add more gloss to his standout performance. The hat-trick hero spotted the run and found the pass for Hudson-Odoi, who didn't need to break stride before finishing.
C. Hudson-Odoi
Goal
Chelsea
78' GOOOOAAAL! Hudson-Odoi gets in on the act to make it 5-0! The teenager raced in behind to meet a throughball, and no one could catch him before finishing beyond Boyko. 8-0 on aggregate to Chelsea then...
76' Kiev earn their second corner of the match during another mini spell of pressure. These have been brought crashing down with Chelsea goals so far tonight.
Pedro
Willian
Chelsea
74' Former Shakhtar Donetsk man Willian has enjoyed himself back in Ukraine tonight. Pedro will play out the last 20 minutes or so in his place.
Azpilicueta
Yellow Card
Chelsea
73' Azpilicueta pulls Sidcley's shirt after the Brazilian knocks the ball over his head, earning the substitute a swift yellow card.
71' Alonso chooses to aim for the near post this time around. Boyko isn't distracted by wall duties and watches the shot curl away for a goal kick.
70' Burda fouls Kovacic in a similar position to where Alonso saw his free-kick saved minutes ago.
Azpilicueta
D. Zappacosta
Chelsea
69' Azpilicueta takes over from the injured Zappacosta, and takes the armband from Willian while he's at it.
67' Harmash leaps to meet a cross above the Chelsea centre-halves, but he was never in full control of the header, which goes high and wide.
Jorginho
N. Kanté
Chelsea
65' And N'Golo Kante gets a well-earned rest. Jorginho will slot into his usual metronomic role at the base of Chelsea's midfield.
Tchê Tchê
S. Sydorchuk
Dynamo Kyiv
65' Skipper Sydorchuk leaves the pitch to be replaced by Tche Tche.
64' Both sides are preparing to make changes here.
62' WOW, what an amazing save from Boyko! The Kiev keeper is still busy organising his wall, leant on one of the posts, when Alonso lets fly for the opposite top corner. Somehow the Ukrainian covers the entire goal to tip it on to the crossbar.
V. Mykolenko
Yellow Card
Dynamo Kyiv
61' Mykolenko goes into the book for a foul on Hudson-Odoi. Alonso will stand over the resulting free-kick.
Willian
Assist
Chelsea
59' Willian has been putting excellent service in the box all game. It was only a matter of time before a team-mate converted, this time from a free-kick wide on the right wing.
O. Giroud
Goal
Chelsea
59' GOOOOOAAAAL! It's a hat-trick for Giroud! The big Frenchman is on hand from Willian's whipped free-kick to notch his ninth Europa League goal in as many games. 4-0 to Chelsea and another big blow for Kiev after their spirited start to this half. We could be heading to double figures on aggregate...
58' Loftus-Cheek gallops into space once again to take pressure off Chelsea's midfield. The visitors look like they've just about weathered the early second half storm.
56' Zappacosta gives the ball away to Sidcley in Chelsea's half, who fails to take advantage of the mistake with a wayward cutback.
55' Chelsea responded by immediately easing into possession, if only to take the sting out of Kiev's play.
53' It's taken 50-odd minutes for Kiev to burst into life like that. Can they keep it up and end this tie with their heads held high?
51' How on earth did Kiev not just score?? A manic minute has just played out. Mykolenko cuts the ball back to Sydorchuk, who sees his first attempt saved by Kepa and the second hit the post. Harmash puts the ball in the net soon after, only to be denied by the offside flag for the second time mid-celebration.
50' Following a quiet start tonight, it's easy to see why Chelsea fans are so excited about Hudson-Odoi. The youngster has bagged two goals and two assists in his four starts in the Europa League this season.
48' Loftus-Cheek drives forward and spreads the play to Zappacosta on the right, but the Italian trips over his own feet before resetting the attack.
46' Kiev restart proceedings in the second half, hoping for a better showing than the first.
Sarri won't need to call upon the likes of Hazard or Pedro after a blistering first half, should he wish to give some of his top talent an extended rest. Barkley has been a star performer in Europe for Chelsea this term, though, and will be keen to feature. As mentioned before, Kiev must make sure they keep the score down in the second half to come.
It couldn’t have gone much better for Chelsea during the first half in Ukraine. Two goals from Giroud and a late third from Alonso have well and truly killed off this tie, and all but sealed a place in the last eight for Sarri's Blues. Each goal arrived just as Kiev threatened to make a game of it in this second leg, and what started as a comeback strategy will now be damage limitation for Khatskevich’s side.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: DYNAMO KIEV 0-3 CHELSEA
C. Hudson-Odoi
Assist
Chelsea
45' + 1' Hudson-Odoi only had one thing in his mind when the one-on-one opportunity emerged out wide. A one-two with Giroud opened it up for the teenager, who drilled it across perfectly for Alonso to steer home.
Marcos Alonso
Goal
Chelsea
45' + 1' GOOOOAAAAL! Alonso adds to his earlier assist with a strike of his own, following Hudson-Odoi's surge down the right. The defender arrives late in the middle having started at the back post. Comprehensive from Chelsea, they lead 3-0 on the night.
45' Chelsea are ending the half with a flurry of corners.
44' Loftus-Cheek has been able to break between the lines very, very easily so far. He's been at the heart of numerous attacks on the left-hand side for Chelsea.
42' Hudson-Odoi and Giroud link up again. The former's pass bounces off the striker's heels as he runs off the last defender. Giroud could have scored a hat-trick by now in this first half...
40' Willian continues his fine set-piece execution with another delivery to Giroud at the near post. The France international can't get over the ball and heads off target for a goal kick.
39' Hudson-Odoi chases a ball over the top from Kante, Giroud helps out with a neat touch back to tee him up, and the youngster then sees his shot blocked away for a corner.
38' Willian can't believe the referee doesn't give him a free-kick following a challenge from Kedziora. The Brazilian soon hops back on to his feet after losing the debate.
36' Khatskevich cuts a resigned figure in the home dugout and there's still an awful lot of football left to survive for his side.
35' Shepelev almost falls on Loftus-Cheek to give Chelsea a free-kick.
Marcos Alonso
Assist
Chelsea
33' Alonso split the defence with his assist, bending a cross around the Kiev back four. The Spaniard is doing himself no harm as he competes with Emerson for minutes at left-back.
O. Giroud
Goal
Chelsea
33' GOOOOAAAALL! Giroud grabs his eighth Europa League goal of the season, arriving on the end of Alonso's cross. Even the most optimistic Kiev fans will know there's no hope now. 2-0 to Chelsea.
31' Burda finds Sidcley with a fantastic diagonal pass from right to left out of defence, but the Brazilian is flagged offside, just as he was about to take on Zappacosta.
29' Shaparenko is the culprit again, this time for a foul on Alonso. Kiev have to be careful they don't let frustrations get the better of them or the scoreline could get ugly.
28' Shaparenko fouls Kovacic in the middle of the pitch.
27' Chelsea almost make it 2-0. Kante slides in Giroud after a storming run from midfield. The angle then becomes difficult for the Frenchman, so he instead opts to chip the ball back across goal, only narrowly missing Willian in the middle.
25' Following his opening goal tonight, Giroud has either scored or assisted in each of his last four starts for Chelsea in all competitions.
23' Tsygankov fires his effort straight into the wall...
22' Hudson-Odoi brings down Sidcley 30 yards from Chelsea's goal to gift a promising free-kick.
21' Kiev see a goal disallowed for offside, after Harmash did well to finish past Kepa.
20' Loftus-Cheek turns and weighs up his options just beyond the halfway line. However, the Chelsea number 12 overhits a pass towards Willian on the left.
18' Chelsea have had over 75 per cent of possession so far in Ukraine. Kiev are showing little glimpses of growing into the game, but it might be too late...
16' Tsygankov has a chance to stretch his legs as he chases a raking pass into the right channel. The wide man reaches the ball before it goes out of play, but can't find a team-mate with a cutback.
14' The home side are trying to piece together some possession in an attempt to get something going here. Chelsea appear happy to let them for the time being.
12' Boyko's save produced a Chelsea corner, from which Giroud could only head straight at the Kiev shot-stopper.
11' Big chance for Loftus-Cheek. Alonso finds the languid midfielder with a throughball, and the England international lets the ball run inside the area before forcing a save from Boyko, low to his left.
10' Hudson-Odoi threatens to dance past Kiev's entire defence as he enters the penalty box, but the hosts crowd him out just in time before clearing.
9' Chelsea are in total control now with Willian getting a lot of the ball out on the left wing.
7' All of sudden, the Kiev bench will have to rip up their plans and start again. They were searching for an important early goal but have conceded one instead.
R. Loftus-Cheek
Assist
Chelsea
5' Loftus Cheek won the flick-on from Willian's set-piece, which then fell perfectly for Giroud. That was Chelsea's first corner of the game.
O. Giroud
Goal
Chelsea
5' GOOOOAAALL! Giroud taps it home following a corner and that's almost certainly tie over already. It's 1-0 on the night and 4-0 on aggregate to Chelsea!
4' Chelsea's defence are called upon to clear the resulting set-piece and a couple of other crossing opportunities before calming things down.
3' Kiev win a dangerous free-kick on the left after Rudiger fouls Harmash. Zappacosta is forced to clear the delivery away for a corner.
2' Hudson-Odoi enjoys a couple of neat first touches out on the right. Chelsea fans will be delighted to see him starting.
1' Chelsea get us underway.
Homegrown fan favourites Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi are both handed starts. Gonzalo Higuain continues his recovery from a fever at home, but Sarri has a star-studded bench anyway should he need it. Kick off is under five minutes away!
Khatskevich goes for three changes from the side that started at Stamford Bridge. Vitaliy Buyalskyi is suspended for the hosts, while Benjamin Verbic misses out through injury.

The Europa League is proving to be a much-needed boost at times for Chelsea this season. Maurizio Sarri’s men missed the chance to make up ground in the Premier League top four race against Wolves at the weekend, but can surely play with more freedom tonight given the aggregate scoreline. The Blues boss has still brought a very strong squad with him to Kiev, and he’ll hope they can emerge unscathed from a playing surface he described as a “disaster”.
Kiev face a mighty challenge in front of their own fans after a 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge last week. Head coach Aleksandr Khatskevich said such a turnaround would require a “miracle,” but the Ukrainians have come back from first leg away setbacks in Europe before. They knocked out Guingamp in the last 32 and then Everton in the last 16 four years ago.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Europa League last-16 second-leg clash between Dynamo Kiev and Chelsea!
