Turf Moor

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Burnley are next in action in the Premier League after the international break away against Watford on November 23, while West Ham are at home to Tottenham on the same day.
Burnley get back to winning ways in the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 victory over West Ham this afternoon at Turf Moor. The home side entered the contest on the back of three-straight defeats, but went ahead after 11 minutes as Ashley Barnes converted from close range. Chris Wood then saw a headed goal disallowed by VAR for offside after he connected with Dwight McNeil's pinpoint cross. However, the two players combined before the break to double the advantage, with the New Zealander finding the bottom-left corner from a low cross from the winger. The result was secured in the second half when Roberto Jimenez palmed the ball into his own net from Ashley Westwood's corner, summing up a horrible game for the Hammers across the pitch. Roberto did atone for his error to keep the scoreline respectable, while Ben Mee also saw an effort disallowed for an apparent foul, which was generous to say the least to the visitors. Manuel Pellegrini will be feeling the pressure heading into the international break, while he also lost key players Mark Noble and Manuel Lanzini to injury. The problems are mounting for the Hammers.
90' + 7' Roberto has another cross to gather at the near post, but he is able to gather McNeil's delivery.
90' + 7' SAVE! Space opens up for Cork to fire a low effort towards the bottom-left corner, but Roberto gets down to palm it past the post.
R. Brady
C. Wood
90' + 4' Wood is withdrawn for the final minutes for Brady.
90' + 4' Cresswell lines up a strike from distance, but can only scoop his effort well over the bar.
90' + 3' SAVE! Yarmolenko blasts the ball across the face of goal, but Pope makes a good save to divert it away from the net and out towards the left flank.
90' + 2' Lanzini is stretchered from the field. Hopefully it's not too serious for the Argentine.
90' There will be five minutes of added time.
88' Lanzini lands awkwardly on his shoulder and appears to be in a lot of pain. The stretcher has been called for and it looks as though his afternoon will end prematurely.
A. Westwood
Yellow Card
88' Westwood brings down Lanzini on the charge and goes into the book.
87' Burnley are coasting towards the first win since the beginning of October. It is needed after a run of three-straight defeats.
85' CHANCE! Lanzini releases the run of Yarmolenko down the left inside channel. The forward has time to launch a strike towards the top-right corner, but he places his left-footed strike wide of the target.
83' SAVE! Burnley are so close to a fourth goal. Cork tees up Hendrick for a strike at goal in the box. He has space and time to pick his spot, but Roberto produces a fine stop to turn it over.
J. Rodriguez
A. Barnes
81' Rodriguez comes on for the closing stages to replace Barnes.
80' Lanzini goes for a blast at goal from the edge of the box on the half-volley, but he sees his effort charged down by a wall of claret shirts.
79' Cresswell raids down the left flank and wins a corner off the body of Hendrick. Can the Hammers push for a consolation goal?
78' There's no pressure on Burnley to do anything with the ball. The home side are sitting aiming to preserve their clean sheet.
75' Bardsley tees up Wood for a strike at goal, but the forward sends his effort straight at Roberto, who makes the save.
74' West Ham are devoid of ideas in the final third. They look a team short on confidence.
72' Roberto punches the ball clear from Westwood's delivery, but it could land anywhere in the box. Fortunately for the Hammers they get a call in their favour for handball against Taylor.
71' Snodgrass loses out to Westwood in the middle of the park and the midfielder feeds Wood down the right flank. He lifts a cross into the box, but with seemingly no danger, Balbuena still heads it behind for a corner.
R. Fredericks
Yellow Card
West Ham United
69' Fredericks goes in hard on Taylor and goes into the book.
68' The Burnley forwards harass the West Ham backline. Wood wins the knockdown before Barnes goes for the second ball. He charges down a clearance from Balbuena that goes wide of the target.
66' West Ham are all over the place in the second half. They've been bullied by the home side all over the pitch. Pellegrini will be relieved to leave Turf Moor without further damage.
A. Ajeti
Pablo Fornals
West Ham United
64' Fornals is withdrawn for the visitors and replaced by Ajeti.
63' DISALLOWED GOAL! Mee converts from Westwood's corner from the left flank, heading home from close range. However, the referee chalks it off for a foul on Roberto. The West Ham keeper slipped and if anyone was fouled it was Mee, who was having his shirt pulled by Cresswell. The officials are not coming out of this game well.
62' CHANCE! West Ham are all over the place at the back. Wood is played into acres of space down the left inside channel by Westwood. He latches on to the ball and powers a strike towards the net, only to see his effort turned over the bar by Roberto.
61' OVER! Burnley are mauling the Hammers at set-piece. On this occasion they work this one short back to McNeil and he fires a ball towards the near post. Wood almost gets the better of Balbuena, but he can only send his effort over the bar amid pressure from the defender.
60' SAVE! Roberto punches the resulting corner clear as far as Bardsley. The full-back goes for the low drive towards the bottom-left corner, only to be denied by a solid diving stop from Roberto. That will help the keeper's confidence.
59' SAVE! Roberto atones a little bit for his mistake as he denies Wood. The striker gets the better of Balbuena down the left side of the box. Wood strikes with power towards the near post, but the Hammers keeper spreads himself to make the stop.
57' SAVE! Cresswell almost gets a goal back for the visitors. He latches on to Yarmolenko's throughball. He stabs a strike towards the top-left corner, but the Burnley keeper stays big and makes the stop with his right hand.
57' The Burnely fans enjoy a joke at the expense of Roberto as Pope comes off his line to make a comfortable claim from Lanzini's cross.
M. Lanzini
Felipe Anderson
West Ham United
56' Felipe Anderson is withdrawn for Lanzini for the visitors.
Roberto Jiménez
Own Goal
West Ham United
54' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! ROBERTO COMMITS A HOWLER!!!! 3-0!!!! Oh dear, the Hammers are 3-0 down now as Roberto punches the ball into his own net. Westwood curls a dangerous cross into the middle from the corner. The keeper should be able to claim the ball or at the least punch it away. However, he fists it into the back of his own net and not even VAR can save him from the humiliation of conceding.
53' McNeil has a run at Fredericks down the left flank and he wins a corner for the home side.
51' Mee connects from Taylor's cross from deep from a free-kick, although his header loops into the arms of Roberto.
50' SAVE! Snodgrass works the ball into Haller on the edge of the box and he turns and shoots at goal with power, but it's straight at Pope. The intent has been better from West Ham since the restart.
49' Felipe Anderson and Fornals try to combine to force a cross into the box, but Bardsley is there to repel the danger for the home side.
48' Yarmolenko runs at the Burnley defence down the right flank before cutting inside to shoot on his left foot, but his effort is tame and straight at Pope.
47' Snodgrass tees up Fornals on the edge of the box, but the Spaniard slips as he strikes at goal and the ball trickles harmlessly past the post.
46' We're back underway at Turf Moor.
The Hammers were awful in the opening 45 minutes. They failed to lay a glove on the hosts, lacking composure all over the pitch. They've been suspect at the back, while Sebastien Haller has been isolated in the final third. Pellegrini has to conjure up a response otherwise he could be feeling the heat at the end of the contest.
Burnley hold a 2-0 lead over West Ham at the break in their Premier League clash at Turf Moor, and the home side will argue that it should be 3-0. The Clarets have been dominant in the first half, putting the pressure on the visitors throughout. Sean Dyche's men took the lead in the 11th minute when Ashley Barnes was on point to convert from close range after James Tarkowski headed Dwight McNeil's delivery across the face of goal. It came close to being 2-0 as Chris Wood planted a header from McNeil's brilliant cross from the left flank into the net, only for the goal to be ruled out by VAR. However, the two players did combine to double Burnley's lead as the winger snatched possession from Fabian Balbuena and picked out the forward in the middle to fire his strike home. The home side will be pleased, while Manuel Pellegrini will be searching for answers at the interval.
B. Mee
Yellow Card
45' + 3' Mee brings down Haller and goes into the book for his poor challenge.
45' + 2' Rice sums up West Ham's first half by planting a long ball out of play for a goal-kick.
45' There will be three minutes of added time.
D. McNeil
44' McNeil wins possession and surges down the left flank before picking out Wood in the middle, who finds the back of the net.
C. Wood
44' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! WOOD SCORES THIS TIME!!!! 2-0 BURNLEY!!!! Wood and McNeil combine for a legal goal, leaving the forward to celebrate with a cheeky VAR signal. West Ham are the architects of their own downfall as Roberto throws the ball out to Balbuena. He is robbed by McNeil and the winger sends a low ball towards Wood in the box. The striker powers a left-footed drive towards the left-bottom corner, beating the hand of Roberto to find the back of the net.
44' McNeil asks questions of the West Ham defence once again. He sends a low cross towards the near post, but Roberto is able to gather for the visitors.
42' Westwood releases Hendrick down the right flank and he steers a low ball towards Wood, but Diop sticks out a boot and Roberto races across to gather and prevent the corner.
41' Roberto picks the ball up seemingly from a backpass from Diop, but the referee does not give the decision to the Clarets. The home fans are not happy with the officials this afternoon.
38' VAR strikes again and that was a marginal call, although there was enough of Wood's body beyond the last Hammers defender to rule it out.
37' DISALLOWED GOAL!!! Wood believes that he had doubled his side's lead, but the goal is disallowed as VAR overturns the decision for offside. McNeil puts the ball on a plate with a brilliant cross from the left flank. Wood gets in behind Diop and plants a headed effort into the net, but the replays show that he was beyond the last defender when the ball was played.
34' Fredericks swings a cross to the back post, and although there's no one there Bardsley heads behind for a corner. His body language suggests that he didn't get a shout from his team-mates.
33' Referee Kevin Friend has a words with Barnes and his captain Mee over the conduct of the forward. He escapes a booking for now.
31' The Hammers are starting to see a little bit of possession. However, they've not been able to muster a threat on the Burnley goal.
29' It's a disappointing delivery from Snodgrass and the home side are able to clear the danger with relative ease.
28' Better from the visitors as Felipe Anderson releases the run of Fredericks down the right. He sends a low cross into the box that Mee has to clear behind for a corner.
26' Burnley are full of energy in the first half. Hendrick drifts into the middle and makes another probing run at the West Ham defence. He shoots from distance, but his attempt is deflected into the hands of Roberto.
25' McNeil makes a driving run at Cresswell on the counter, but the Hammers defender holds his ground to make a strong challenge to quell the attack.
23' Cork feeds Hendrick, who sends a throughball towards the run of Wood through the middle. However, the ball trickles into the arms of the onrushing Roberto ahead of the forward.
22' Cresswell makes an important intervention, heading the ball away at the back post from McNeil's cross as Hendrick was looming behind him.
A. Yarmolenko
M. Noble
West Ham United
20' A blow for West Ham to lose their skipper as Noble makes way for Yarmolenko.
19' Noble is struggling with an injury to his right ankle and he may have to leave the field here.
18' The Hammers clear the danger from the free-kick as far as McNeil on the edge of the box. He goes for the strike at goal from 20 yards, only to drill his attempt straight at Roberto.
17' Barnes and Noble collide near the half-way line and Burnley win another free-kick, although the West Ham skipper appears to have come off worse in the challenge.
15' Snodgrass gives away a foul in Burnley half and Taylor pumps the ball long. Tarkowski wins the initial header and guides it down towards Wood, but the referee blows for a foul against Balbuena in the box.
13' Replays show that Bardsley's drive deflected off Barnes rather than a West Ham player. The Hammers will be furious with the officials for missing that one.
J. Tarkowski
11' Tarkowski rises to head McNeil's corner towards Barnes, who finds the back of the net.
A. Barnes
11' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! BARNES CONVERTS FROM CLOSE RANGE!!! 1-0!!!! Burnley take the lead as the striker sticks out a leg to divert the ball past Roberto. McNeil's cross from a corner goes deep to the back post. Tarkowski rises to head across goal above Balbuena. Barnes is there to react first and he steers his effort into the back of the net.
10' Roberto opts to punch a delivery from McNeil away from goal and Bardsley lines up a drive from distance that deflects off a West Ham defender and out for a corner.
10' Fredericks makes a good clearing header behind for a corner amid the presence of Wood behind him from Hendrick's cross.
9' Snodgrass floats the ball over the top of the Burnley defence towards Haller in the left inside channel. He takes a good first touch, but Tarkowski makes a fine covering challenge to stop the forward from firing at goal.
8' Hendrick raids down the right and he wins a corner off the legs of Cresswell. Mee connects with a looping header from McNeil's delivery, but Roberto claims it with ease under his bar.
7' Barnes makes a good run down the left flank and he scoops a low cross into the middle. However, Diop gets across to make the intervention ahead of Wood in the box.
5' Mee floats a free-kick forward from the half-way line and the ball is flicked on towards Wood, but the New Zealander is an offside position.
3' Hendrick tries to work the ball through to Barnes in the final third, but the forward is caught offside.
2' Fornals raids down the left flank and whips a dangerous cross into the middle that just evades the run of Snodgrass. A good run and delivery by the Spaniard.
1' We're underway at Turf Moor.
Burnley have won two of their last three Premier League games against West Ham (L1), having won just one of their first seven against them in the competition (W1 D1 L5).
West Ham have made one change to their side from their defeat to Newcastle last time out. Fornals comes into the side on the right flank to replace Yarmolenko, who drops to the bench.
Burnley have made three changes to their side from their defeat to Sheffield United last week. Bardsley and Taylor are recalled in the full-back positions to replace Lowton and Pieters, while Wood is given the nod to start ahead of Rodriguez after signing a new contract in the week.
WEST HAM SUBS: Pablo Zabaleta, Andriy Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini, Carlos Sanchez, Angelo Ogbonna, David Martin, Albian Ajeti.
WEST HAM (4-1-4-1): Roberto Jimenez; Ryan Fredericks, Fabian Balbuena, Issa Diop, Aaron Cresswell; Declan Rice; Pablo Fornals, Mark Noble, Robert Snodgrass, Felipe Anderson; Sebastien Haller.
BURNLEY SUBS: Matt Lowton, Robbie Brady, Jay Rodriguez, Joe Hart, Erik Pieters, Aaron Lennon, Kevin Long.
BURNLEY (4-4-2): Nick Pope; Phil Bardsley, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Jeff Hendrick, Jack Cork, Ashley Westwood, Dwight McNeil; Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes.
West Ham are equally in need of the three points this afternoon after sliding down the Premier League table. Since their defeat at the hands of Oxford United in the EFL Cup, they've failed to win their last five matches. They were beaten 3-2 at home by Newcastle United last week, although the scoreline was not a true reflection of the game. Pressure is building on Manuel Pellegrini and he and his team have a point to prove.
Burnley enter the contest in a dire need of a victory having lost their last three matches on the bounce. The Clarets were thrashed 3-0 last week on the road against Sheffield United, leaving them in 14th place in the Premier League. Sean Dyche's men are four points clear of the relegation zone, but he will want to end their poor run as soon as possible.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Burnley and West Ham at Turf Moor.
