Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Atletico remain top, now eight points clear of Barcelona and Real Madrid with a game in hand and they face Granada next time out. Meanwhile Celta Vigo move up a place to 10th and they will welcome Elche on Friday.
Atletico miss the opportunity to go 10 points clear at the top of LaLiga, after being held to a 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo, after the visitors scored an 89th minute equaliser. It looked like Atletico would make it nine wins on the bounce, after two Luis Suarez goals fired them into a 2-1 lead, cancelling out Mina’s header early on. However, the visitors rallied and Ferreyra scored late on to share the points.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 2-2 CELTA VIGO
90' + 2' Atletico are pushing for another goal, but surely they have left it too late now. The visitors have everyone back, content with a point away from home.
90' There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
A. Solari
Assist
89' It was a lovely ball from the right by Solari, who found himself with plenty of time and space to pick his teammate out in front of goal.
F. Ferreyra
Goal
89' GOAL! Celta have equalised late on, it’s 2-2! Solari manages to get in-behind the Atletico defence and he slides the ball across to Ferreyra in the six yard box, who pokes it into the back of the net from just a couple of yards out. Llorente stays with him and tries to make the block, but can’t stop it from crossing the line.
88' Celta are pushing everyone forward in search of an equalising goal, but they just can't break through the resilient Atletico defence and the hosts could counter at the other end and catch them out.
86' Oblak is still yet to have a good save to make, with Celta only testing the Atletico keeper early on and that's when Mina scored the opening goal. Other than that, it has been a quiet night for him.
84' Suarez is top goalscorer in LaLiga this season, with 16 goals to his name, which is three more than is closest rival in Lionel Messi.
82' CLOSE! The visitors fail to clear the danger and Atletico keep coming back at them, with Lodi first seeing his shot blocked from the left, before Gimenez drills a low strike towards the bottom left-hand corner of the net. However, it flies just inches wide of the post.
80' We into the final 10 minutes of the game now, plus any additional time added on. Can Celta carve out an opportunity to equalise late on?
Denis Suárez
Yellow Card
78' Denis Suarez is booked for kicking the ball against the advertising barrier in frustration. A cheap yellow card to pick up.
F. Ferreyra
Santi Mina
76' Here comes another Celta substitution and it is the goalscorer who is coming off, as Mina is replaced by Ferreyra.
75' As it stands, Atletico will go 10 points clear at the top of LaLiga, with a game in hand and on course to win their first title since their victorious 2013/14 campaign.
73' This is better from the visitors, they have Atletico penned back once again behind the ball. However, they just aren't moving the ball quickly enough and it is quite easy for the hosts to defend against.
71' At home, Atletico are unbeaten in their last eight LaLiga games against Celta Vigo (W6 D2), keeping clean sheets in the last three.
A. Solari
Nolito
69' Here is the first Celta substitution of the game, with Nolito coming off the pitch and he has been replaced by Solari.
J. Giménez
Yellow Card
67' Gimenez has been booked for his challenge on Aspas midway in the Atletico half of the pitch, just catching the striker late.
66' Kondogbia has played well on his LaLiga debut for Atletico today, the midfielder has sat in front of the back four and made a few vital interceptions, including that excellent challenge to deny Aspas.
64' Still no sign of any changes for Celta, how long will they leave it before making some alterations to try and get back into the game?
62' Atletico are giving away a few cheap free-kicks at the moment, which is handing Celta set pieces in good positions that they should be testing Oblak from.
60' Almost! Lodi looks to line up a shot at goal from the edge of the box, but instead lays it off to Suarez, who tries to beat his marker and sprints towards the near post. However, Celta manage to defend well and Blanco comes off his line to gather.
58' The game is quite open and stretched at the moment, with Atletico looking more confident after their goal and they are pushing forward more. Would another goal wrap up the win?
56' CHANCE! Aspas with an excellent opportunity to equalise for Celta, as they counter quickly and get into the penalty area, but he is superbly denied by Kondogbia, who gets across in the nick of time, slides in and makes a terrific challenge to block the shot.
55' Celta Vigo are winless in their last five LaLiga matches (D2 L3), having been unbeaten in their previous six in the competition (W5 D1). They have drawn the last two and have not tied three in a row since January 2020.
53' Slight problem here for Suarez, he is down on the pitch with a knock to the head after an aerial collision. The medical staff are on the pitch, but he should be fine to continue.
51' The visitors will feel hard done by on both goals, as they have been the better of the two teams, but just couldn't work another opportunity to test Oblak and double their own lead early on.
Renan Lodi
Assist
50' You might have expected Lodi to take a touch to control the ball first, but he took it first time and delivered an excellent ball into the path of Suarez, who comfortable converted.
L. Suárez
Goal
50' GOAL! Suarez fires Atletico into the lead and makes it 2-1! Kondogbia plays a lovely ball over the top of the Celta defence to Lodi on the left wing, who volleys a first time cross into the box to Suarez, who reacts quickest and fires it into the back of the net. Great start to the second half by Atletico.
48' Atletico have started the second half a little brighter, trying to keep the ball more and pick up the pace when they are in possession, but the visitors look like a difficult side to try and break down.
46' The second half is under way!
L. Torreira
Felipe
46' Atletico have made a substitution ahead of the second half, with Monteiro the man coming off and he has been replaced by Torreira.
Neither keeper has had a real save to make so far, just pick the ball out the back of their nets once. Much of the ball has been in the midfield, with Celta on top in that department and Atletico need to step it up a gear if they are to extend their winning streak.
The scoreline is level at the break, after Suarez scored right at the very end of the half to make it 1-1. It was a largely uneventful half of football, with the two goals the only opportunities, but the visitors looked the more dangerous and they took the lead through Mina on 13 minutes, after a lovely cross into the box from Mallo.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 1-1 CELTA VIGO
45' + 1' We're having a VAR check on the goal just to make sure that Suarez was onside when the ball came through to him. It looks like a tight decision, but the striker is just about onside. The goal stands.
Llorente
Assist
45' Llorente got forward on the overlap after a ball through to him and he picked out Suarez perfectly at the far post, who made no mistakes with the finish.
L. Suárez
Goal
45' GOAL! Suarez fires Atletico back into the game and makes it 1-1! The hosts have come alive just before the break and get forward quickly in numbers, with Llorente finding space down the right and playing a good low ball across goal to Suarez at the back post. The striker slides in and pokes it into the back of the net from the edge of the six yard box.
43' Good quick counter by Atletico almost leads to an opportunity, but they just can't get the ball down in time in the box and Celta manage to clear the danger.
41' The visitors have had a few set pieces now, but have struggled to make any of them count as the deliveries into the penalty area have been poor. Another comes to waste as it fails to beat the first defender.
39' There’s not long left to play until the end of the first half now, can Atletico get back into the game before the half-time whistle?
37' Atletico have won their last eight LaLiga matches, they last had nine consecutive victories in a row in the competition in April 2014 (9).
35' Decent effort! Lodi does well down the left and he fires an effort towards goal from the edge of the penalty area. However, it is too close to Blanco, who made a comfortable save.
33' The pace of the game is very slow, with the visitors now very happy to sit back and just let Atletico have the ball as they aren't troubling them at all in the final third. In fact, it has been very comfortable for them so far.
31' Decent move! Atletico keep it nicely in the middle of the pitch and Savic then spots the run of Saul from midfield, who was trying to sneak in behind the Celta defence. However, the keeper reads it well and quickly gathers.
29' We’re almost at the half an hour mark now and it remains Celta Vigo who are leading 1-0 against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.
27' Free-kick here to Celta after Correa catches Tapia late, perhaps in frustration and Celta will bring players up from the back and try to create something. However, the ball is poor and comes to nothing.
25' After a decent spell of possession for the hosts, it is back to Celta now and they are getting much further up the pitch, looking to get crosses into the box and carve out opportunities.
Felipe
Yellow Card
23' Monteiro is the first Atletico player to be booked after he barges heavily into Mendez as the pair challenge for the ball just inside the hosts half of the pitch.
22' Decent chance! Felipe has an opportunity from a header after a cross comes into the box from Koke, however, the effort is weak and flies over the crossbar.
21' Celta Vigo are winless in their last 16 visits to teams from Madrid in LaLiga (D5 L11) although they have drawn five of the last seven (L2), since a 2-0 win against Leganes in January 2017.
19' Simeone is cutting a very frustrated figure on the sidelines, he is shouting out orders to his players, surely trying to get them to settle down into their rhythm as they haven't created anything in the final third.
17' Suarez and Correa have hardly touched the ball for the hosts so far, they have had to sit back for the most part and watch as their opponents control proceedings.
15' Atletico need to pick it up here if they are to get back into this game quickly, they have looked off the pace in the opening 15 minutes and the visitors deserve their lead.
Hugo Mallo
Assist
13' Mallo picked out his teammate perfectly with the cross, as it was in between the Atletico defence and keeper, so neither could really come out and claim it, so Mina took full advantage.
Santi Mina
Goal
13' GOAL! Celta Vigo take the lead on 13 minutes, it’s 1-0! A terrific move by the visitors, who carve Atletico open down the right wing and Mallo gets forward and whips a superb low cross into the penalty area for Mina to run onto the end of. The striker was unmarked and just glanced it into the far corner of the net. Lovely goal.
10' The hosts are struggling to get out of their own half at the moment, the visitors look comfortable and Atletico are having to get everyone back the ball to try and soak up the pressure. No chances just yet.
9' Atletico have won just two of their last five games against Celta Vigo in LaLiga (D2 L1), having won their previous six against the visitors in the competition.
7' The visitors are edging possession so far, they are keeping it well in their own half and making Atletico do all the chasing. Can they create an early chance and upset the leaders?
R. Tapia
Yellow Card
5' The first yellow card of the game is shown very early on to Tapia after he dived into a challenge and caught Kondogbia late. Poor challenge and a silly booking to pick up.
3' The visitors have started well, pressing Atletico high up the pitch and they are making it very difficult for them to get out of their own half at the moment.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out and kick off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
Meanwhile the visitors name the same side that drew 0-0 with Granada last weekend, as they line up in a 4-1-3-2 formation, with Aspas and Mina set to lead the line up front.
Diego Simeone has made three changes to his starting line-up, with Kondogbia making his first LaLiga start for Atletico, whilst Lodi and Correa also coming into the team and they have replaced Lucas Torreira, Thomas Lemar and Joao Felix.
CELTA VIGO SUBS: Emre Mor, Jordan Holsgrove, Facundo Ferreyra, Miguel Baeza, Joseph Aidoo, Fran Beltran, Jose Manuel Fontan, Kevin Vazquez, Ivan Villar, Augusto Solari.
CELTA VIGO (4-1-3-2): Ruben Blanco; Hugo Mallo, Jeison Murillo, Nestor Araujo, Aaron Martin; Renato Tapia; Denis Suarez, Brais Mendez, Nolito; Iago Aspas, Santi Mina
ATLETICO SUBS: Yannick Carrasco, Sergio Camello, Ivo Grbic, Sime Vrsaljko, Mario Soriano, Lucas Torreira, Vitolo.
ATLETICO (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Felipe, Jose Gimenez, Stefan Savic; Marcos Llorente, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Koke, Saul, Renan Lodi; Angel Correa, Luis Suarez.
Meanwhile Celta are 11th in the table and they are winless in their last five games, having lost three and drawn their last two, against Eibar and Granada. Despite their league position, they are only five points above Real Valladolid who occupy the final relegation spot.
Atletico could extend their winning run to nine games with victory over Celta Vigo today, which would move them 10 points clear of Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga, with a game in hand. They beat Cadiz 4-2 last time out, after a brace from Suarez and goals from Saul and Koke.
