Arsenal look like they could be genuine title contenders, then, while Liverpool's hopes of another challenge already look over. There's a long way to go yet though. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Arsenal go back ahead of City at the top of the Premier League table. It's only by a point, but they've scored in every league game they've played this season and look full of confidence at the moment. Liverpool stay 10th with 10 points from eight games. This is their worst start to a season since 2012-13, when they finished seventh. Their ongoing issues continue.
Arsenal edge out Liverpool in a five-goal thriller! The hosts took the lead twice through Martinelli and Saka in the first half, only to be pegged back each time by their stubborn visitors. The Gunners kept their belief and composure though, and it paid off as Saka scored once more from the penalty spot. The Reds couldn't come back for a third time.
90' + 8' FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 3-2 LIVERPOOL
90' + 7' Martinelli buys a free-kick off Konate near Liverpool's corner flag. Arsenal take it short but can't keep possession. They can't relax yet. Liverpool go on one last attack. Henderson and Elliott have potshots blocked. That's it!
90' + 5' The five minutes are up. The Arsenal fans want the final whistle. Arteta does too. Liverpool make scant progress down their left, and the hosts get a throw-in.
Fábio Vieira
B. Saka
Arsenal
90' + 4' Arsenal make another change to wind the clock down. On comes Vieira. Saka makes way.
90' + 3' White hands Liverpool a free-kick near the halfway line. The Reds are showing no signs of breaking Arsenal down again.
E. Nketiah
Gabriel Jesus
Arsenal
90' + 1' Jesus gets a deserved rest after a battling display. Nketiah will replace him up front for Arsenal for the remainder of the time left.
90' Jesus gets sandwiched between van Dijk and Alisson as he goes for a ball over the top. No foul. There'll be five more minutes of this.
88' Elliott goes down in Arsenal's penalty area as he's nudged over by Tierney. There's nothing in the challenge, though, and the referee wisely shows no interest in giving a penalty.
87' Liverpool enjoyed plenty of the ball in the first half, but possession has been much more even since half-time. It's been almost 50/50 in the second half.
85' White, playing at right wing-back, gets past Tsimikas to float a cross into Liverpool's box. Gomez twists his neck to stop an Arsenal man from reaching it.
83' Arsenal have switched to a 3-4-3 system. It's working initially for them, as they see off a Liverpool attack and Jesus finds Tierney with a crossfield pass.
K. Tierney
M. Ødegaard
Arsenal
82' Arsenal decide now is the right time to make their first change. Their captain Odegaard leaves the pitch to applause. Tierney replaces him.
H. Elliott
Diogo Jota
Liverpool
81' Liverpool substitution. Elliott replaces Jota.
80' Liverpool keep the ball for a while, pinning Arsenal in front of their own box. Firmino can't do anything with a searching pass which bounces out of play.
78' Liverpool now need to come from behind for a third time. The visitors force a corner down their right which Arsenal defend well.
B. Saka
Penalty Goal
Arsenal
76' GOAL! ARSENAL 3-2 LIVERPOOL! Saka steps up and slots the penalty kick into the bottom left corner of the net! Alisson dives the right way but can't reach it. It's his second goal of the game, and the Gunners lead again! It's no less than they deserve after putting Liverpool under extended pressure.
74' PENALTY FOR ARSENAL! Liverpool can't cope with the hosts' intensity. Saka and Jesus have close-range efforts saved by Alisson. Martinelli lashes the ball against a defender before finding Xhaka again. Jesus challenges for his cross and gets taken out by Thiago. The referee points straight to the spot!
72' Martinelli drifts inside and waits for support from Xhaka. The Arsenal man crosses from a left-back position. It's cut out, but Liverpool are wobbling.
J. Gomez
Yellow Card
Liverpool
71' Gomez gets booked for one strong challenge too many.
Fabinho
Mohamed Salah
Liverpool
69' This Liverpool change is more unusual. Salah goes off. He's replaced by Fabinho.
I. Konaté
J. Matip
Liverpool
69' Here are those Liverpool changes. Konate replaces Matip at centre-back first.
68' Liverpool are about to make a few changes. They need to really, with Arsenal threatening to score again.
66' Liverpool have had to stay alert since Firmino's equaliser. 41 per cent of the action in the first 15 minutes of this half was in their third.
64' Chance for Arsenal! Tomiyasu's right-footed cross from the left evades everyone and catches Saka by surprise at the far post. The Englishman loops the ball up for Odegaard to nod in, only for him to be denied by an acrobatic clearance off the line! Eventually, Saka's penalised for handball. Still, that's a big chance for the hosts to take the lead for the third time.
63' White's cutback from the byline is defended well by Thiago. Liverpool are having to dig deep for the time being.
62' Xhaka lashes a volley over the crossbar from the left of the box. The momentum is still with Arsenal.
61' Jesus comes back on, but now Gomez barges Martinelli off the pitch. It's a firm but fair challenge. The Arsenal fans aren't impressed at this roughhousing.
60' Thankfully, Jesus is back on his feet and doesn't appear to be concussed. The Brazilian leaves the pitch temporarily.
58' Jesus takes a whack in the face from the arm of the defending Tsimikas. The players immediately signal for urgent attention. Jesus appears to be out cold.
57' Arsenal's corner comes to nothing. Jota trips Saka to give the hosts a free-kick down their right. Alisson punches the Englishman's delivery out.
55' Liverpool hustle through the middle only to be stopped by Gabriel. Up the other end, Jesus sends Odegaard slightly too wide. The Norwegian salvages the situation, and forces Matip to concede a corner.
Diogo Jota
Assist
Liverpool
53' Firmino knew exactly what Jota was thinking, and the substitute made the most of what he was given. It's hard to tell which way this game will go at the moment.
Roberto Firmino
Goal
Liverpool
53' GOAL! ARSENAL 2-2 LIVERPOOL! Liverpool are level again! Firmino races onto Jota's throughball and runs across Ramsdale to slot into the far bottom corner.
51' Arsenal get a throw-in down their right. Jesus is offside as he challenges for it.
50' Alisson is called into action to save Odegaard's low shot from the edge of the box. It comes from more great work from Martinelli to get past Gomez.
48' Martinelli again scampers down the left for Arsenal, this time cutting the ball back for a team-mate. Liverpool just about manage to recover.
46' Arsenal get the second half going. They understandably have seen no reason to change things.
J. Gomez
T. Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool
46' Liverpool make a half-time change. Alexander-Arnold gets the hook and is replaced by Gomez at right-back. Alexander-Arnold may still be nursing a niggle, but both of Arsenal's first-half goals did come from down his side.
Going in ahead at half-time is big for Arsenal. Arteta's men have gone on to win all five previous games they've led at half-time this season. They're unbeaten in their last 12 when they've been in this position, since losing 2-1 on New Year's Day to Manchester City. Liverpool have a hard 45 minutes ahead.
Arsenal head in at the break with their noses in front. The Gunners took the lead within the space of a minute through Martinelli, before Liverpool started to take control of the game and equalised through Nunez. The visitors got caught on the counter again though, as Saka struck to give the hosts the half-time advantage. More to come!

B. Saka
Goal
Arsenal
45' + 5' GOAL! ARSENAL 2-1 LIVERPOOL! Liverpool's free-kick doesn't work out, and Saka strikes instead on the counter, poking Martinelli's perfectly placed pass into the net!
M. Ødegaard
Yellow Card
Arsenal
45' + 4' Odegaard sticks a leg out to win the ball and catches Jota instead. The Norwegian's shown a yellow card.
45' + 4' Saka's delivery is easily cleared. Arsenal keep the pressure on, and Jesus can't control Xhaka's fizzed pass. Liverpool eventually scuttle the ball away.
45' + 3' Saka goes up against Jota and Tsimikas and manages to win a corner for Arsenal, their first of the game.
45' + 1' Jota, now playing on the left for Liverpool, dribbles into the box waiting for the right time to shoot. He's soon stopped. The Reds have to settle for a throw-in.
45' There'll be five minutes of additional time at the end of this half. It's raced by.
44' Odegaard looks to thread a pass through the middle to Jesus. It's cut out. Saka tries to bustle his way inside from the right but fouls Thiago in the process.
43' Nunez finds Salah to his right but can't reach the Egyptian's floated pass in return. Ramsdale claims it instead.
Roberto Firmino
L. Díaz
Liverpool
42' Diaz trudges forlornly down the tunnel to have his injury looked at. Firmino comes on for Liverpool.
41' Diaz has picked up a knock he won't be able to shake off, possibly from Partey's challenge earlier. The Colombian will have to be substituted.
40' Nunez is the latest Liverpool player to get caught offside. Arsenal's defenders are playing almost on the halfway line.
38' Partey uses his strength to shrug off Diaz and send the Colombian to the turf. Liverpool are disappointed not to get a free-kick.
36' Jota tries to reach Henderson's throughball but strays offside. Liverpool are starting to get settled in possession.
L. Díaz
Assist
Liverpool
34' That was great work by Diaz to create the goal. Two of Liverpool's South Americans have combined to bring them level.
D. Núñez
Goal
Liverpool
34' GOAL! ARSENAL 1-1 LIVERPOOL! Nunez equalises for the Reds, prodding Diaz's right-wing cross past Ramsdale. The Uruguayan will be pleased with that finish.
33' Ramsdale pumps the ball out for a throw-in as Nunez chases him down. There's a frantic pace to this game. It's fun but slightly chaotic.
31' Salah jinks inside from the right and bobbles an effort wide of the near post. That's not the Egyptian's finest shot at goal.
29' Diaz looks to cause trouble but is penalised for handling the ball. Liverpool come straight back after the free-kick, and Ramsdale has to save Saliba's hurried backpass with Nunez lurking nearby.
27' Jesus holds the ball up just outside the box and finds Tomiyasu's overlapping run down the left. His cross is headed out as far as the Brazilian, who forces Alisson to make a routine save.
25' Van Dijk successfully gets his head to an Arsenal cross from the left. Liverpool break, and Ramsdale pushes away Nunez's blast at his near post.
23' Alexander-Arnold needs treatment after getting innocently caught by Martinelli on the follow-through. Klopp gives his captain Henderson some advice while play's paused.
21' Martinelli scoots down the left and scoops the ball up towards the far post. There's no Arsenal team-mate there though.
19' Alisson clears as Arsenal get from their own half into Liverpool's box in a few passes. The Gunners are looking to get in behind the Reds' high line at every opportunity.
17' Saka darts down the right and gets bundled over by Tsimikas. The referee decides against awarding a free-kick.
15' Jota flicks the ball up into the hand of Gabriel. The Liverpool man wants his opponent to be punished but the officials are feeling lenient.
13' White fires a low cross into the box from the right. Xhaka gets on the end of it and fires straight at Alisson, who makes a decent save. The offside flag goes up anyway.
12' Alexander-Arnold swings the corner towards the penalty spot. Van Dijk heads way over to cheers from the home fans.
11' After some treatment, Ramsdale looks good to continue for now. Liverpool attack down their right and Martinelli's unable to prevent them from winning another corner.
10' Ramsdale goes down after booting the ball upfield. It looks like the Arsenal goalkeeper has picked up a problem with his right thigh.
8' Nunez is caught offside as he tries to reach Tsimikas' throughball.
L. Díaz
Yellow Card
Liverpool
6' Arsenal clear the corner and try to counter. Diaz picks up an early yellow card for halting Martinelli's run.
5' Liverpool try to make amends quickly. Nunez shoots from outside the box and earns the visitors a corner down their right as it's blocked.
3' That Martinelli goal after 58 seconds is the quickest that Arsenal have ever scored against Liverpool in the Premier League. The hosts aren't messing around.
M. Ødegaard

1' Arsenal raced from back to front there, as Saka found Odegaard who gave Martinelli an easy finish. This game's achieved lift-off, and it took less than a minute!

In recent years, Arsenal have struggled against Liverpool. They've won just one of their last 14 meetings, a 2-1 dead rubber in July 2020, and lost their last four in a row. This match feels different though, and they've never lost five games against the Reds on the bounce. How serious are Mikel Arteta's Gunners? We're about to find out.
Liverpool stick with the same 11 that brought them a 2-0 victory over Rangers in the Champions League. They tried out a new 4-2-3-1 formation in that game in a bid to end their recent struggles. Let's see how they fare against stronger opponents.
