PSL free agents who can improve Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates

The 2019-20 PSL Goalkeeper of the Season nominee has been a free agent since leaving Chiefs in May last year and he has been training with Swallows FC.
However, Swallows are unable to sign Akpeyi, 36, due to the club's current Fifa transfer ban.

With Richard Ofori having proved to be injury prone, Pirates have had to rotate their keepers Sipho Chaine and Siyabonga Mpontshane who are both nowhere near Akpeyi in terms of quality.

The Malawi captain, who has played 195 matches in the PSL since arriving in the country in 2012, was released by AmaZulu FC at the end of last term. 
At the age of 29, Mzava - a centre-back-come-right-back - is at his peak of his career as a player and he would bring experience and stability to any defence in the local top-flight.
Last month, German centre-back Maurizio Maricog failed to impress whilst on trial at Chiefs and the Glamour Boys could really do with a well-established defender like Mzava.

The naturally-talented winger is still unattached having left Mamelodi Sundowns after the club decided against renewing his contract in June last year following a loan spell at Chippa United. 
Mahlambi, 25, who was once the hottest prospect in South African football, is currently training alone as the former Al Ahly player hopes to land a deal soon.
Chiefs have lacked a winger who can cut open the opposition's defence and find the back of the net, and Mahlambi has the ability to do that.

The experienced attacking midfielder was released by Chiefs at the end of last season while carrying an ankle injury and he had to undergo surgery. 
Manyama, 32, has been undergoing rehabilitation at his former club, Cape Town City, but he is yet to be offered a deal by the Citizens.
Some have criticized Pirates for lacking proven playmakers and a quality player like Manyama would flourish in that role at the Houghton-based giants.

The former Bafana Bafana international parted ways with SuperSport United last year after reportedly refusing to take a Covid-19 vaccine shot.

Mkhwanazi remains a quality defender who has won the PSL title with Bidvest Wits and the 32-year-old also helped Bafana reach the Afcon quarter-finals at the 2019 edition.

A proven centre-back like Mkhwanazi would bring experience, aerial prowess and leadership skills to the Chiefs defence which has conceded six goals in their last three games.
