Five City players Sundowns need to be wary of

City are hoping to lift the MTN8 title for the second time in the club's history and also prolong Sundowns' long wait for the Top 8 trophy, which they last won in 2007.

Goal picked five Citizens players who could hurt Masandawana at Moses Mabhida Stadium:

  • Bradley Ralani, Cape Town City, May 2021

    Bradley Ralani

The quality attacker, who is armed with mesmerizing dribbling skills and pace to burn, is one of the most dangerous wingers in the PSL as he has the ability to create and score goals.

Ralani has netted twice from three matches in this season's MTN8 and he has what it takes to inspire the Citizens to a victory over the reigning PSL champions.

  • Terrence Mashego, Cape Town City, October 2020

    Terrence Mashego

The current season has seen attack-minded full-back Mashego become one of the top left-backs in the country and a regular in the Bafana Bafana squad.

Apart from his running speed, technical skills and crossing ability, Mashego is a potential match-winner having scored a wonderful solo goal as City eliminated AmaZulu FC in the MTN8 first round.

  • Thabo Nodada, Cape Town City, May 2021

    Thabo Nodada

The City captain, who is a hardworking box-to-box player with great endurance, has been influential since he returned from his long-term injury three months ago.

Once Nodada starts dictating and controlling the tempo of the match, the Citizens are difficult to stop and that is exactly what he will be looking to do against Sundowns.

  • Fagrie Lakay, Cape Town City, Augustt 2019

    Fagrie Lakay

After enjoying his best season in the PSL last term, Lakay endured a slow start to the current campaign, but the quick forward has regained his form in the last few weeks.

Lakay, who has the technical skill to beat his marker, grabbed a goal and an assist in City's win over Lamontville Golden Arrows last weekend and he will be looking to replicate the same form against Sundowns.

  • Mduduzi Mdantsane - Cape Town City

    Mduduzi Mndatsane

The left-footed playmaker finished last season with nine goals from midfield and he has managed to carry his scoring form into the current campaign having netted four goals thus far this term

Mdantsane's experience and scoring ability will be vital for the Citizens against Sundowns having inspired Baroka FC to the 2018 Telkom Knockout Cup final win over Orlando Pirates - scoring once and grabbing an assist.
