    #23 Allan – Napoli – CM – 85

Long linked with a move away from the Serie A outfit, he remains in Naples and is one of their outstanding figures in FIFA 20. The Brazilian has no clear point of weakness, with his strength undoubtedly on the defensive side of the game.

    #22 Blaise Matuidi – Piemonte Calcio – CM – 85

Another excellent defensive central midfielder is Blaise Matuidi, who will feature for Piemonte Calcio in FIFA 20 as Konami have exclusive rights to the Juventus name. The veteran Frenchman is an excellent option for teams seeking a player to mop up danger before it reaches their defence.

    #21 Romelu Lukaku – Inter – ST – 85

Dumped by Manchester United in the summer, the striker has made a promising start at San Siro. Incredibly imposing on the physical side of the game, he is a capable shooter and should be a strong option as a target man.

  4. Marco Rosi

    #20 Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – Lazio – CM – 85

An excellent all-rounder in the middle of the park, the Serbian has been linked to Manchester United in the past and is one of the strongest midfield options in FIFA 20. He may lack in pace, but he is strong in every other category.

    #19 Kostas Manolas – Napoli – CB – 85

There is no shortage of excellent centre-backs to pick from in Serie A, with Greek defender Manolas the first to make this Top 20 list. While he is brilliant in the physical and defensive side of the game, he is not so strong technically, with a passing rating of 42 and a shooting rating of just 25.

  6. #18 Gianluigi Donnarumma – AC Milan – GK – 85

The imposing young custodian has been making waves for several years now and is rated as Serie A’s third-best goalkeeper, according to FIFA 20. He is particularly good at shot-stopping, with excellent reflexes and diving ratings.

    #17 Matthijs de Ligt – Piemonte Calcio – CB – 85

Caught the eye playing with Ajax in the Champions League last season to such an extent there was a crazy scramble over the summer for his signature. In FIFA 20, his rapid rise has been reflected with an 85 overall rating, with the youngster especially strong in the defensive and physical categories.

    #16 Alex Sandro – Piemonte Calcio – LB – 85

Another Piemonte Calcio star, the Brazilian offers a dynamic presence down the left-hand side of the pitch. Not only is he a strong defender, as one would expect of a man who plays for Juventus in real life, he is an excellent dribbler and a strong crosser, making him a useful attacking weapon.

    #15 Gonzalo Higuain - Piemonte Calcio – ST – 85

He might have flopped at Chelsea, but Maurizio Sarri continues to put his faith in him and so too do EA Sports, who have given the striker an overall rating of 85 in FIFA 20. His main strength, as one would expect, is shooting, which is rated at 85.

    #14 Papu Gomez – Atalanta – CAM – 85

The 31-year-old Argentina international has exploded over the last few years at Atalanta and was one of their driving forces behind Champions League qualification. He is a versatile offensive presence and scores particularly highly in the elegant arts of dribbling and passing.

    #13 Milan Skriniar – Inter – CB – 86

With a defence rating of 87, the Inter centre-back is one of the most solid players in Italy’s top flight, which in itself is an impressive feat. Will be a defender who can bully forwards as he boasts impressive physicality, too.

    #12 Wojciech Szczesny - Piemonte Calcio – GK – 86

The 29-year-old seems to have been playing at the top level forever and has long established himself as Juventus’ No.1. According to FIFA 20, though, he is also the second strongest goalkeeper in Serie A, with a lack of speed his only obvious weakness.

    #11 Miralem Pjanic - Piemonte Calcio – CM – 86

Technically, there are few better players in the game than Bosnia midfielder Miralem Pjanic, whose passing and dribbling are both excellent. He is also one of the top free-kick takers in FIFA 20. However, he posts only modest scores in terms of pace, shooting and physicality.

    #10 Ciro Immobile – Lazio – ST – 86

Immobile has blown a little hot or cold over the course of his career, but in the new edition of FIFA, he is very much in one of those purple patches. Quick, good on the ball and with a fine shot, he represents a dangerous offensive threat for Lazio.

    #9 Leonardo Bonucci - Piemonte Calcio – CB – 86

In terms of pure defenders, there are few players better in the world than veteran Italian centre-back Bonucci, who reads the game expertly. That is reflected in his ratings for FIFA 20, with his strongest points his reading of the game, his physical qualities and his long passing abilities.

    #8 Lorenzo Insigne – Napoli – CF – 87

Is there a better dribbler of the ball in Serie A than Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne? According to FIFA 20, there is not. The centre-forward may not be the deadliest finisher – he posts a shooting rating of just 79 – but he is a technical wizard who can create for others.

    #7 Dries Mertens – Napoli – CF – 87

Another excellent offensive option for Napoli is Belgium international striker Dries Mertens. He posts similar attributes to team-mate Insigne, but is a more capable finisher and is slightly stronger, making hms arguably a better candidate to lead the line.

    #6 Diego Godin – Inter – CB – 88

For years the lynchpin of the Atletico Madrid side, the Uruguayan moved to try his hand in Italy – the home of outstanding defensive football – over the summer. In FIFA 20, he is regarded as one of the best players in Serie A, unsurprisingly scoring very highly in both defence and physical ratings.

    #5 Samir Handanovic – Inter – GK – 88

Comfortably the best goalkeeper in Serie A, according to FIFA 20’s ratings, he scores well on all the key raw attributes for a shot-stopper. There is a slight weakness in terms of his kicking and speed, but this is amply covered elsewhere.

    #4 Paulo Dybala - Piemonte Calcio – CAM – 88

A lack of physicality is perhaps the only chink in the armour of Paulo Dybala in FIFA 20. He is a master of the technical arts, particularly dribbling and ball control, and scores impressively in terms of his all-round attacking work.

  21. Getty Images

    #3 Giorgio Chiellini - Piemonte Calcio – CB – 89

The wily old fox of the Juventus defence, the veteran knows all the tricks in the book and even at 35 remains one of the game’s foremost centre-backs. He reads the game brilliantly, tackles superbly and is strong enough to mix with the best of them. A lack of stamina is his only significant weakness.

  22. Getty Images

    #2 Kalidou Koulibaly – Napoli – CB – 89

The Senegal international centre-back joins Chiellini as the joint best centre-back in Serie A. Again, he is an outstanding pure defender, marking and tackling brilliantly, while he possesses a strength rating of 95, ensuring that he will not be bullied by anyone.

  23. #1 Cristiano Ronaldo – Piemonte Calcio – ST – 93

Might be unhappy at seeing eternal rival Lionel Messi score higher than him in FIFA 20, but the Portuguese remains the outstanding footballer in Serie A. With high ratings for pace and shooting, he is one of the most decisive players in the game and a fine all-round forward.
