<p>The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has often displayed such qualities on the pitch, with his <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/video-lionel-messi-lifts-trophy-46-inter-miami-superstar-most-decorated-player-all-time-inter-miami-supporters-shield-mls-2024/blta5661435124b5e01" target="_blank">record-breaking collection of major trophies being taken to 46</a> and counting in 2024. He is currently readying himself for a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/best-team-ever-mls-cup-or-bust-lionel-messi-inter-miami-argentine-superstar-signed-david-beckham-deliver-ultimate-glory/bltf1dde65891cd00ac" target="_blank">shot at MLS Cup glory with Inter Miami</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Away from the field, as a global brand ambassador for Hard Rock, Messi – who has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/lionel-messi-explains-marvel-goal-celebrations-inter-miami-movies-united-states/blt5f99b04705b56c1f" target="_blank">made a habit of breaking out Marvel-inspired goal celebrations</a> – has become “the world’s newest superhero”. ‘Captain Messi’ will be “saving the day with his powerful kick”, with a posable toy being made available from October 23 with any Hard Rock Kid’s Menu order at cafes, through in-room dining at participating hotels and at Rock Shops worldwide – with the collection also including “lunchboxes, water bottles, backpacks, apparel and more”.</p>

THE GOSSIP

<p>This is the first time that Messi has been involved in the creation of a toy that sports his likeness, with the Argentine icon saying of the project: “My kids and I love watching superhero movies together, so it was really special to work with Hard Rock to create Captain Messi. I hope it helps inspire young fans and families to work hard and believe in themselves to do great things.”</p><p>Jim Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming and Chairman of Hard Rock International, added: “We’re thrilled to continue our incredible partnership with Lionel Messi and create a new way to represent all the joy he brings to people around the world.”</p>

WHAT MESSI SAID

<p>Messi, who <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/watch-lionel-messi-chef-jacket-unveil-hard-rock-cafe-kids-menu-inter-miami-stadium/blt2b5c424856dd900f" target="_blank">already boasts his own signature dish on the Hard Rock menu</a>, has been involved in the creation of specially designed “burgers and chicken sandwiches for adults and kids” – with diners tucking in to those when he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/video-tasty-lionel-messi-wife-antonela-roccuzzo-hard-rock-cafe-try-inter-miami-superstar-signature-burger/bltc658b594fac7adc2" target="_blank">made a special guest appearance</a> at the company’s flagship Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood property in Florida. The South American struck some superhero poses on stage and answered fun questions.</p>

<p>Messi has been a partner of Hard Rock International for three years and recently starred in their ‘Come Together’ brand loyalty campaign.
