Alex Morgan has had many iconic looks over her career, but her pink pre-wrap has been a staple, a constant, and the accessory that has become what soccer girls everywhere, wear.
Morgan, 35-years-old and pregnant with her second child, played in her final professional game on Sunday in the Wave's NWSL home match at Snapdragon Stadium. The two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist exited the professional stage, of course wearing her pink pre-wrap.
Pre-wrap has been the make-shift headband that girls and women everywhere use to keep their hair out of their face. It can be rolled thin, or stretched out for a thicker band. Pre-wrap also comes in lots of different colors, Morgan however, always wore pink.
Choosing a pink pre-wrap started for Morgan in college, when she was a sophomore in college at University of California-Berkeley.
Morgan picked pink in support of her now husband's mother, who was being treated for breast cancer at the time. The color stuck, as did the headband. Pink became the perfect color for Morgan, as it not only stood out on the pitch, but also added contrast to any jersey she was sporting.
For every goal Morgan scored on the international stage, 123 to be exact, she always had her pre-wrap on.
Morgan's pre-wrap even has its own X account, and she's also done explainer videos as to how to reach the signature look.
Many of Morgan's teammates over the years have also worn pre-wrap, it's seemingly a piece of fabric that transcends time.
