NWSL expansion team BOS Nation FC has named ex Barcelona exec Domènec Guasch as the club's first general manager

WHAT HAPPENED

The newest NWSL expansion team, BOS Nation FC has named Domènec Guasch, a former general manager for women's football at Barcelona, as the club's first general manager.

Guasch will lead BOS Nation FC in the club's first season, after being with FC Barcelona for 15 years. BOS Nation FC will kick off play in 2026, and joins the league as the 15th team.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Washington Spirit named Jonatan Giráldez as head coach earlier this year, and Giráldez also joined the NWSL from Barcelona where he was the club's previous head coach. The two were part of the staff to win three of the past four UEFA Women’s Champions League titles.

Guasch has a wealth of knowledge in women's soccer, and most recently handled opperations and recruitment for Barcelona. He will be taking on similar tasks with BOS Nation FC.

WHAT GAUSCH SAID

“It’s an incredible honor to join this club and step into a city with such a rich tradition of sports excellence,” Guasch said in a statement. “The opportunity to build this team from the ground up is a challenge I fully embrace, and I’m eager to create a legacy that our fans and this city will celebrate for years to come. I’m excited to get to work assembling a world-class coaching staff and roster to compete at the highest level.”
