We’re just five days away from Seattle Reign’s jersey retirement match for Megan Rapinoe. A celebration of Rapinoe will be held at Lumen Field during the Reign's match against the North Carolina Courage on Aug. 25, at 10 p.m. ET.
Rapinoe is one of just three players to wear the Reign crest from 2013 through 2023. She will also be the first player in club history to have her jersey retired.
“I have lived so much life in this jersey and I'm humbled to see it retire alongside me. It represents so much more than myself - a team, a city, and a lifetime of memories," Rapinoe said in a statement. "Thank you to the Reign and to my teammates for the love, the support and the opportunity to leave a piece of my heart on the field."
In celebration of the Reign back in action, and No. 15 being part of the Reign franchise forever, let’s honor five of Rapinoe’s most impressive stats with the Reign.
1. Rapinoe has made many assists
Rapinoe tallied 26 regular-season assists in her NWSL career. She ranks second in club history and is tied for seventh in NWSL records overall. She recorded a career high six assists during the 2018 NWSL season.
2. Rapinoe has scored many goals
Rapinoe scored 51 regular-season goals with the Reign, the most in the club’s history. She scored 54 goals overall during her time in the NWSL.
3. Third time's a charm
Rapinoe led the Reign to three total shields, and has scored a goal in all three of those victorious matches.
4. No. 15 will live forever
Rapinoe’s jersey is the Reign’s first to be retired, and only the third jersey in the NWSL history to earn that honor.
5. Rapinoe has played many, many, minutes for Reign FC
Rapinoe played a total of 8,454 minutes for Reign FC, which equals 5 days, 20 hours and 54 minutes.
