Houston Dash's Diana Ordóñez to become first NWSL player to compete in MLS All-Star Skills Challenge

Houston Dash and Mexican national team forward Diana Ordóñez will compete at the 2024 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on Tuesday, making the 22-year-old the first NWSL player to ever participate in the MLS event.

The All-Star Skills Challenge will include shot, touch, cross and volley, pass and crossbar contests. Ordóñez is paving the way for other women to compete at these types of skills events.

Ordóñez has four goals on the season for the Dash and recently played with the Mexican women's national team in a friendly vs. the U.S. women's national team ahead of the Olympics.

“I feel pretty comfortable with touch and passing, those kinds of things, as they’re typical to just playing a game,” she told MLS. “Crossbar is something I don’t do super often, but this week I’ve been trying to make some time at the end of training. My teammates have been super supportive.

"They’ve been challenging me to do it and make sure I have it down before I get there. I’m excited. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

The MLS Skills Challenge kicks off on Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio.
