U.S. Women's National Team forward Sophia Wilson announced on Instagram that she gave birth to her baby girl. Wilson's post included a picture of her newborn's feet with text that read: "Hi world." Wilson announced her pregnancy back in March, with her husband Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson. The NWSL and Portland Thorns also reposted another image, announcing the arrival of "Gianna Capri Wilson."

Wilson's announcement that she was pregnant in the spring came just months after she married Michael Wilson. The two met at Stanford University. She was later drafted first overall in the 2020 NWSL College Draft by the Portland Thorns. Wilson has been in attendence of some of the Thorns' home games at Providence Park.
