The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) showed up when it came to jaw-dropping goals; from Marta dribbling from half field and schooling five of Kansas City Current's team, to Yuki Nagasato's one-touch banger, it was a good season of goals. INDIVISA ranks our top 10.
ImagnTop 10 goals of the 2024 NWSL season, ranked
10Debinha's far post run and one-touch finish
Debinha is known for her epic runs, cheeky goals, and amazing celebrations. This one, did all of that. Michelle Cooper served an absolute stunner of a ball to the far post, and Debinha was sprinting full speed to the far goal post. Between the momentum of her speed, mixed with her clinical ability to strike one-time, was enough to earn our last spot in the top 10 goals of the 2024 season.
9Barbra Banda's championship goal
Barbra Banda had a lot of beautiful goals for Orlando this season, but this one meant perhaps the most because it was the game winner that solidified the Pride as 2024 NWSL Champions. Banda did what she does best, dangled some players and then slotted that ball with enough pace to slip right past any decent keeper. This goal earned her championship MVP.
8Hal Hershfelt has no quit
Hal Hershfelt's goal was one that was really worked for. She started the play in the midfield, found an outlet pass and then followed the attacking line up the field. She eventually got it back centrally from Rodman and literally took one touch then slammed it into the far post.
7Croix Bethune's footwork to jaw-dropping finish
Croix Bethune all season was praised for her assisting ability, and with good reason. We think what was so epic about this goal is that she quite literally assisted herself with her insane footwork and ability to trick everyone and their mother into fishing for the ball. The way she turned right away after Casey Krueger found her feet, and then dodged some pressure and then buried it, that's the Rookie of the Year for you.
6Sydney Leroux's chest pass to a perfect side volley
What we love about Syndey Leroux's goal is the composure she had to settle ball down and almost hit it to herself using her chest. She popped the ball up, which was not easy because it was off of a service, and then she half volleyed it into the goal.
5Emma Sears' service of the year
What we love about Emma Sears' goal for Racing Louisville is her work on the flank to serve a ball that looked like an absolute perfect cross to the far post, but instead, it whipped in the net having everyone screaming. It was one of those goals that whether the wind had something to do with it or not, or whether it was intended to be a goal or nowt, it was an upper-90 banger.
4Yuki Nagasato's one-touch strike
One of the Houston Dash's best moments this season had to be Yuki Nagasato's one-touch volley from outside the box. This was clinical, ruthless, and as the Gen Z kids say, no notes.
3Barbra Banda's turn and strike
Barbra Banda made our list twice, and they both were nice. The higher ranking goal had to be her goal against Kansas City Current when she received the ball in the air, turned, and absolutely rocketed the ball into the net. It was one of the goals where people in the stands probably felt the wind from the strike of the ball against the back netting.
2Temwa Chawinga's chip of the year
Temwa Chawinga broke about every goal scoring record this season, and this chip of hers, was one of our absolute favorites. There were a couple of things she could have done with that through ball, perhaps place it in a corner, or take the keeper on one-vs-one, but instead she thought, 'maybe I just chip it?' It worked.
1Marta's goal of the year, that brought us to tears
When Marta picked the ball off at half field, it was game over for the Current. Marta proceeded to dribble past three Current players, weaving left and right, and then completely schooling the keeper. This was truly the goal of the year that was seen and heard about all over the world.
