Next Friday, 11 September, marks the start of the second edition of the Saudi Premier League for Girls Under-17s 2026/2027. Eight clubs will take part for the first time, up from seven last season. The competition's survival speaks to how quickly the Saudi Arabian Football Federation have developed it, turning the league into a proving ground for fresh Saudi talent. These are the players who will go on to star in the senior sides of the Saudi Women's Premier League, and for the national team, in the near future.

Chasing this season's title are Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Qadsiah, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Ula, Jeddah United Academy and Najma Jeddah.

    The defence of the title

All eyes in the new 2026/2027 season of the Saudi Premier League for girls under 17 are on defending champions Al-Hilal. They will defend the title after making history as the competition's first-ever winners last season, topping the table in 2025/2026 with 32 points and not a single defeat. Ten wins and two draws sealed it.

Al-Hilal are expected to lean again on several of last season's stars who remain under 17. Chief among them is goalkeeper Dana Al-Bin Ali, who claimed the award for best goalkeeper last season. Midfielder Rimas Al-Banwani, winger Kanzy Alaa Al-Saadani and defender Sawar Amr Al-Amri all return too.

Continued brilliance of the talented players

Al-Hilal's talents won't have the spotlight to themselves. The new season should bring more standout performers from rival clubs, many of whom impressed last time out. At Al-Ittihad, runners-up in the inaugural 2025/2026 edition, defender Dima Hijazi leads the way after being named last season's best player. Alongside her stands defender Diala Sarouji, who wore the captain's armband in most of the campaign's matches, while up front Heba Ouhachi struck 7 goals to finish fourth in the scoring charts.

Third-placed Al-Qadsiah will lean once more on their talented goalkeeper, Joud Al-Saqr. She finished second on the clean sheets list last season, level with Al-Hilal's Dana Al-Bunali on 7 shutouts. Then there's Joan Al-Nassar, comfortable at both right-back and left-back, who ranked among the finest discoveries of the first edition in the full-back positions.
