NWSL and Nike unveil striking new away kits for 2025 Season, featuring 'bold designs, vibrant colors'

The 2025 launch showcases kits that feature performance innovation with club-driven storytelling

The 2025 NWSL season is here, and with it exciting new looks for each of the league’s 14 clubs. But what goes into the kits, their designs, and the meanings behind them?

“This suite of jerseys, featuring bold designs, vibrant colors, and accompanying lifestyle products like the anthem jacket, represents another key step in growing the NWSL’s footprint within the global marketplace,” said Katie Eaton, NWSL vice president of consumer products. “As we continue to elevate our product offerings, we’re focused on blending sport and lifestyle in ways that authentically connect with players and fans alike.”

INDIVISA takes a deep dive into the latest away threads from all of the league’s teams.

  • Nike

    Angel City FC

A light pink, grey and black design, Angel City’s away kit pays homage to the city of Los Angeles. Among the aspects of the Nike jersey is an all-over toile pattern that features LA landmarks and symbols, including palm trees and the Hollywood Walk of Fame - inspired by “classic Los Angeles tattoo sheets.”

The aim of this jersey is to celebrate the “diversity, strength and beauty that unifies the city and its team,” according to Nike.

Sitting on the hip is a handcrafted Los Angeles script as their outer “pride” which is meant to reflect their local community connections. Included on this Nike kit are pops of the club’s signature colorway, Sol Rosa, on the crest, as well as on trims along the neckline, sleeves and hemline of the shorts.

The kit – which could be likened to a work of art – manages to balance the vibe of Los Angeles without making it overtly busy, an instant classic that sets the bar for ACFC jerseys to come.

  • Nike

    Bay FC

Bay FC opted to debut two new kits this year, the only team to do so, with both featuring the team’s colors in a nod to the city - one navy and red and the other a white and grey stripe with poppy-colored accents.

The clean design in “contrasting light and dark colorways” looks to “celebrate the Bay Area and everything it represents.”

Nine wavy lines can be seen in the vertical stripes, which are meant to reflect the counties in the Bay Area. Those lines flow together, intended to symbolize the power that stems from the diverse identities and backgrounds of those areas.

Additionally, according to Nike, the “hazy, grainy texture of the kits adds dimension and symbolizes the Bay Area’s ever-present fog, with other shades being a nod to the ocean waves.”

The team’s badge is centered on the jersey right above the Nike logo.

  • Nike

    Chicago Stars FC

A new Nike kit accompanying the Chicago Stars' overall rebrand, this year’s version is meant to “offer a moment of reflection,” paying homage to Lake Michigan and the city’s renowned Cloud Gate sculpture.

Drops of liquid mercury flow throughout this kit, an element which inspired the surface of the Cloud Gate. It’s also meant to “symbolize the relentless intensity that lies within and the team's ability to adapt to any challenge."

Joining the dark kit are red and blue accents, as well as the team’s new crest.

  • Nike

    Gotham FC

Gotham FC’s latest Nike kit goes back to their roots, with a Sky Blue jersey and shorts that have black accents and a matte black crest. The colorway, according to the team, is meant to encapsulate “the club’s grit, resilience and ambition."

The pops of black are meant to give the kit a “fashion-forward edge reflecting the stylish streets we call home.”

“This vibrant new kit represents Gotham FC’s relentless ambition to be bold,” said Ryan Dillon, chief business officer for Gotham FC. “Returning to blue not only honors the passion of our fans but also serves as a powerful reminder of our club’s constant evolution and drive to push forward every day.”

  • Nike

    Houston Dash

This year’s kit marks the first time that the Houston Dash have gone with purple on their jerseys, or as Nike puts it, a “bright grape galactic print that captures the vibes the club emits throughout the city.”

The print and “gritty” texture are meant to be a nod to the team’s “relentless and adaptive style of play.” The result is a kit that is meant to symbolize the club’s ability to surpass expectations on the field.

The crest on the Nike kit is also elevated this year, with detailed braiding on the architectural “H” for Houston. Additionally, the team’s outer pride is meant to be a call to the city: “H-Town Hold it Down.”

Dubbed the “Cosmic Storm” kit, the club and Nike aimed to represent “organizing the chaotic energy to create a cosmic storm and a new beacon of hope for the club."

  • Nike

    Kansas City Current

For the first time, Kansas City Current has gone all in on teal with their newest Nike kit, dubbed “Teal Town.” The color is featured on the shirts, shorts and socks.

The design is meant to honor CPKC Stadium, which is the first purpose-built stadium for a women’s pro sports team. Viewed up close, it includes a map of the Kansas City metro area, depicting the stadium’s location alongside the Missouri River.

“The 2025 Teal Town Kit has been years in the making, and we are so excited to give fans and players the full teal kit they’ve been waiting for,” Kansas City Current vice president and head of marketing Jocelyn Monroe said in a statement. “The attention to detail within the design reflects the identity and values of the organization. The kit is tattooed with our city map, highlighting our pride in representing Kansas City. This season, the team will literally carry the city across their hearts.”

  • Nike

    North Carolina Courage

North Carolina’s newest secondary kit is pink, featuring subtle spot patterns, otherwise known as rosettes, that are found on a lioness's belly. The fabric is cross-dyed engineered, giving the jersey two tones that add texture and dimension on the field.

A custom side panel is meant to symbolize “feminine strength, courage and the unstoppable force they create together.”

The club’s crest is also all red, with a gold accent. Additionally, the outer pride on the jersey displays the Latin phrase, “Esse Quam Videri,” translated to “To Be, Rather Than to Seem,” which is the state of North Carolina’s official motto.

  • Nike

    Orlando Pride

Orlando’s first kit with its new star is two-tone with added texture that features a bold new color palette of purple and blue alongside an iridescent crest in honor of the club’s 10th anniversary.

The small hints of Blue, featured on the sleeves and in its outer “pride” are meant to be a nod to the city of Orlando’s past and future, reading “Pride” with a hidden “10.”

This will be the team’s primary kit this year, and includes throwback nods to the team’s inaugural 2016 kit. While simple, the club’s first star is stitched in gold right underneath the Nike logo so as not to miss it.

  • Nike

    Portland Thorns FC

Portland’s new away kit is meant to bring an energy representative of their “Build a Bonfire” chant that kicks off every home game. The hope is to bring that “sense of community on the road,” according to Nike.

Space-dyed knitting technique helps to create the look of embers, with red and black dotted throughout the jersey that symbolizes the “internal fire and passion lit within PTFC players and fans.” Dark shades of black on the kit “symbolize the city’s strength and unity,” according to the team.

The kit’s pride mark is “Onward Rose City” which “captures collective determination to push forward, together.”

“This jersey is a tribute to the internal fire that connects us all, a reminder that success, both on the field and in the community, comes from a shared purpose and a powerful, unified effort,” the team noted.

  • Nike

    Racing Louisville

Racing Louisville debuted its “Roots Kit” this season, the first time that the club is going green, drawing inspiration from the city of Louisville’s tree canopy.

“Made up by tulip poplar, sycamore and American beech trees,” the description reads, “the strength of Racing Louisville’s foundation is in its many pieces that come together each game day.”

The deep green hue is met with black trim along the collar and sleeves, as well as mint green accents in the crest. The sides of the kit lean into the lily “as a symbol of the team’s strength, resilience and elegance,” according to Nike.

The jersey’s side panels feature Stargazer lilies that were designed using a flower-pressing technique.

  • Nike

    San Diego Wave FC

San Diego debuts its “Altamar” jersey this season, with shades of blue contrasted by pink accents. According to Nike, this kit “conjures the power of the ocean with deep blue and tide-like turquoise swirls; pops of pink; and pure, reflective vibes that are perfect for a team that’s a force of nature of its own.”

“Underneath every Wave, an unstoppable energy runs deep,” the club said. “This club is a force of nature, rising together from the ocean’s depths to lift San Diego to untold heights.”

The kit is meant to compliment San Diego’s primary “Del Sol” option, with a light turquoise trim donning the neckline and sleeves, as well as the side panel on the shorts.

"They're the best ones in the league," Wave FC goalie Kailen Sheridan told NBC San Diego. "I'm so excited to see the girls pull up in them. I'm pretty impressed."

  • Nike

    Seattle Reign

Seattle’s latest kit is white with gold accents and blue trim alongside blue shorts. The abstract design is “inspired by the city’s skyline,” according to Nike, meant to bring “elements of grace and power to the pitch.”

The streaks of gold are meant to reflect hues of golden rays of light that are found throughout Seattle when the sun shines, “as well as the light and impact Reign players have on their community.”

“The Rise Kit” is also meant to represent the club’s commitment to excellence and “its continued role as a leader in purpose-led action to drive social change.”

It’s designed as a tribute to ambition, according to the club, with details that showcase Seattle monuments. Additionally, the colors and textures in the kit are meant to mirror the Pacific Northwest sun “rising over the Cascades, illuminating the beauty of the Salish Sea and the Olympic Mountains.”

“As Seattle Reign FC continues its ascent, this kit serves as a powerful reminder that the club’s aspirations are limitless and its foundation remains firmly grounded in the city it calls home,” the club said in a release.

  • Nike

    Utah Royals FC

Utah Royals second kit draws from the “wide-ranging, awe-inspiring topography found throughout Utah,” according to Nike. The print in shades of blue and gray is meant to represent the natural elements of lakes, mountains and boulders “that bring people together in harmony across the state.”

In highlighting the beauty and significance of the Great Salt Lake, the kit aims to bring awareness to ongoing efforts in preservation of the natural resource. Additionally, the kit features a reimagined crest in the shape of the state of Utah and outline in red.

“Our organization is incredibly honored to represent the wonderful state of Utah,” club vice president of marketing Tyler Gibbons said in a release. "The kit design defines what our club is all about. Community first.”

  • Nike

    Washington Spirit

Once again going yellow, the Washington Spirit’s latest kit includes pops of “green strike” along the neckline, sleeves and side panels. Dubbed the “Shockwave” kit, the name reflects the team’s mission “to shake foundations, shatter expectations, and ignite passion in the District.”

According to Nike, the colors are meant to “tell a story of disruption, passion, shattering expectations and the electricity of the Washington Spirit supporters at every game.” The deep forest green accents are joined by an additional short option for the alternate kit.

This marks the first time that the Spirit are wearing Spirit Green, which the team collaborated closely with Nike to create.

“The new Shockwave kit combines the same vibrant yellow with a new Spirit Green to create a kit that truly represents the personality of this team,” Spirit defender Paige Metayer said in a release.
