Highlighting four NWSL players this Hispanic Heritage Month: Ashley Sanchez, Katie Johnson, Diana Ordóñez, and Rocky Rodriguez

Hispanic Heritage Month is here, and there is nothing we love more than some rich Latina culture and pride to go along with a little game-day magic.

The NWSL is full of players who proudly represent their roots on and off the field, and INDIVISA shines the spotlight on four soccer stars this month.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate not just these players' incredible contributions to the sport, but the vibrant cultures that fuel their passion. This game runs deep, these roots run deep, and we are loving every single moment.

    Ashley Sanchez, North Carolina Courage

In case you didn’t know, Ashley Sanchez made history as one of the few Mexican-American athletes to represent the U.S. at the Women’s World Cup - she’s that girl. From Pasadena, California, Sanchez grew up balancing her American upbringing with her Hispanic roots, thanks to her Mexican-American father.

This pride and connection to her people only grew through soccer, especially playing alongside other Latina teammates at UCLA. Her journey of embracing her identity has grown with time and we are so here for it.

    Katie Johnson, Angel City FC

Katie Johnson has always been influenced by her Mexican heritage, and she’s using her platform to celebrate it loud and proud. Her roots got a royal shoutout when she appeared in a Hispanic Heritage Month moment on Disney Channel, themed around Elena of Avalor.

Of course, her heritage shines just as bright on the field, representing her country at the national level. Talk about blending fierce play with a bit of Disney magic.

    Diana Ordóñez, Houston Dash

Ecuadorian-Mexican-Texan ... I mean, c’mon. Diana Ordóñez is the goal scoring machine tearing up the league for Houston Dash. With tattoos that honor her Hispanic roots and her family’s unwavering support, Ordóñez wears her heritage with pride - literally.

Her presence in the NWSL and on the Mexico Women’s National Team is more than just goals, it’s about being a role model for the next generation of Latina players. What a testament to the power of cultural pride and personal identity.

    Rocky Rodríguez, Angel City FC

Rocky grew up spending countless hours playing pickup soccer near her home in Costa Rica, developing the grit and technique that would take her big places - let us tell you.

In 2015, she made history for her country, scoring Costa Rica's first Women's World Cup goal. Now a star in the NWSL with Angel City FC, Rodríguez continues to cement her legacy and represent the Hispanic community in soccer.
