Real Betis winger Antony has denied disrespecting his club after being filmed kicking equipment and appearing to cry on the bench. The Brazilian issued a statement following his angry reaction to being substituted during the defeat to Alaves, insisting the images reflected "competitiveness" rather than petulance as he sought to clarify the incident.

Antony was caught on camera taunting Sevilla supporters during Real Betis’ derby victory over their arch-rivals. The Brazil international was unable to play any part in said contest as he served a suspension. The former Manchester United winger did, however, make a point of winding up fans that were sat in his vicinity, with objects being thrown in his direction.

Antony was back in the headlines again, for all the wrong reasons, as the Real Betis star headbutted FC Utrecht's Souffian El Karouani - but somehow escaped a red card. The former Manchester United winger was sent off just a few days ago after accidentally kicking a Girona player in the head from an attempted overhead kick. Now he has been branded a "madman" after luckily escaping another dismissal.
